Despite the periodically arising struggle with the “clogging” of the Russian language by borrowings, a part of foreign expressions not only organically entered everyday speech, but also carries a positive semantic load. Today, even small children around the world know that a happy ending is a must in any story. The very final scene in which long-standing disputes and long-standing grievances are resolved so that each of the heroes can find fabulous happiness. How relevant is this concept and how did it come about?
Hollywood roots
The original English phrase looks like a Happy End. And in itself is an abbreviation for happy ending, that is, "happy ending". What? Any artwork:

- theatrical performance;
- movie or series;
- cartoon;
- books, etc.
They always mean a scenario move, first implemented by director Griffith. Subsequently, for a long time, the sugary, most successful resolution of problems was named after the creator. While the townsfolk have not reduced it to the studied concept.

Why was this needed? It is practically impossible to overestimate the meaning of the word “happy end” and the phenomenon itself. For many centuries, classical literature has been dominated by the dramatic genre, implicated in the emotional suffering and incredible experiences of the hero. It was supposed to focus on an intelligent audience, alien to primitive entertainment. But the cinema tried to aim at the mass audience, so that after dashing plot twists, a person could enjoy a positive ending and leave the session in a good mood. Hence the interpretation appeared:
- a happy ending;
- successful completion.
Gradually, from cinemas it was transferred to the stage and to books. In particular, Professor Tolkien insisted on the importance of a happy outcome, especially in fairy tales. Almost all existing cartoons try to reduce the adventures of the characters to the most advantageous situation in order to please the young audience. The expression began to be used in real life to describe the best possible development of events, getting rid of troubles.
It is worth noting that in the XXI century the concept is often mocked. The final shots give a hint of an ambiguous behind-the-scenes ending, and the good story can end with an eerie scene that completely reverses the idea of the previous story.
Everyday communication
It is difficult to say how appropriate it is in conversations with friends and colleagues, happy ending. This phrase is universal, but older people may not understand it. It is also necessary to carefully monitor the context: incorrect intonation or marker words can easily distort the statement, change the message to the ironic and directly opposite to your idea. And it will be a sad end!
