Swimming. Swimming Standards.

Almost every inhabitant of the planet knows how to swim, and you should not even doubt it. Swimming is the best way to keep fit. Now more and more people are visiting the pool. Entering this institution, you very often pay attention to how amateur athletes swim. And, oddly enough, this process happens differently for everyone, and sometimes it just looks horrific. Looking at this, I would like to concentrate on swimming styles. There are not very many of them, so any person should own at least one of them. The main styles include: crawl, breaststroke, butterfly stroke and inverted crawl. All species have their own individual swimming standards, which are used to obtain discharges.

Freestyle used to be called a view that includes any swimming methods that could be alternated in the process. But gradually the fast and perfect crawl supplanted all other species, because was much more effective, and therefore received such a name. It is a swimming on the chest, in which alternate strokes of the hands and vertical movements of the legs are performed. The head is in the water and periodically the swimmer turns it to take a breath. Freestyle swimming standards are classified at distances from 50m to 1500m.

The breaststroke refers to the same styles that occur on the chest, only in this case, symmetrical simultaneous movements of the arms and legs in the horizontal plane are made. Among all the styles, this one is considered the oldest. The breaststroke is distinguished by many characteristics that are indispensable for this style of swimming. It allows you to swim silently, view the space above the water, overcome significant distances, even at low speed. The standards for breaststroke swimming, as well as other styles, are implemented on 25- and 50-meter pool lanes. Discharges are assigned at distances of 50, 100 and 200 meters.

Butterfly is somewhat similar to freestyle, only its difference is that in the process, working hands make a stroke at the same time. The front of the body should rise above the water, and the legs and pelvis to make wave-like movements. The name of this style in translation from English means “butterfly”. Until 1953, he was a variety of breaststroke, but after received the status of a separate swimming style. Butterfly swimming standards are determined at the first three standard discharge distances.

“Inverted crawl”, or rather, backstroke, has a great advantage among other styles. It lies in the fact that the face is always above the water. And this is a big plus, because in this case, there is no need to maintain an inhalation-exhalation rhythm. Previously, backstroke swimming was carried out by an “inverted breaststroke”, but after 1912 and to this day, the modern style has been preserved. Backstroke is the 3rd speed and the only one starting from the water.

Like all sports, swimming has its own rules, which any swimmer must adhere to, and it does not matter that it is a swimming championship or some kind of commercial competition.

It is very important to take the right starting position, as in addition to the rules, the participant has the opportunity to secure a good start to the swim. When turning, it is necessary to touch the wall. In the rabbit and on the back, the U-turn is carried out somersault, when the swimmer is repelled by the legs, and the breaststroke and butterfly when the participant touches the wall with his hand. Such a reversal is called a “pendulum”. At the finish, the athlete should touch with a hand a special plate that stops the swim time, and after that determines the winner. It was harder to do before the judge was always following the touch. The swimming rules categorically do not allow the use of prohibited drugs, which increase the endurance and speed of the athlete. The athlete is allowed to wear glasses and special wetsuits, which significantly reduce water resistance.
