Heberden's nodules: alternative treatment

Heberden nodules is one of the pathognomonic signs of deforming osteoarthrosis. As a rule, it is with the appearance of the so-called cones on the fingers that the patient first comes to see a doctor. In fact, Heberden's nodules are nothing more than bone deformations of the distal interphalangeal joints of the hands, which are located on the side on the back surface of the joints, as a rule, are symmetrical, fairly dense to the touch and can have a different size (from a small grain to a pea or even walnut walnut).

Already at the onset of the first signs of arthrosis (pain, swelling, a feeling of stiffness in the joints) you need to see a doctor, be examined and get qualified medical help. Treatment of osteoarthritis should be comprehensive, regular (systematic) and consist not only of drug therapy, but also compliance with the rest regimen, physiotherapy, massage and special exercises aimed at maintaining mobility in the joints.

And if the formed nodules of Heberden are already pronounced - the treatment is necessarily supplemented by folk remedies.

Before starting treatment of Heberden nodules with folk remedies, make sure that the disease is not in the active stage, that you do not have allergic reactions to any of the components proposed for use.

The effect on Heberden's nodules can be local with:

  • grindings;
  • ointments;
  • compresses.

And also general - by taking decoctions or tinctures of medicinal herbs.

General rules for local effects on joints

There are several simple fundamental rules for local treatment that should be remembered and not neglected in the future. So, any compress, ointment or grinding during their first use:

  • should be applied for a short time (5-10 minutes) in order to avoid the development of a possible local allergic reaction;
  • when redness, itching, burning, or other uncomfortable sensations appear - the effect should be immediately stopped;
  • if tolerance is good, then the application should be regular and comprehensive, in compliance with all recommendations for the preparation, application and exposure of a particular agent affecting Heberden's nodules; alternative treatment will be not only pleasant, but also effective.

  1. Clay compresses. It is better to use white and blue clay, alternating them with each other.
  2. Compress from the test (rye flour + ammonia).

  4. Anti-inflammatory compress (2 tablespoons of honey + 1 tablespoon of aloe juice + 3 tablespoons of vodka or alcohol).
  5. Compresses with bischofite have also worked very well. They contain a large number of minerals and microelements, bischofite has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, as well as analgesic, antispasmodic, antibacterial and general tonic. Before making a compress from bischofite, carefully rub the affected joint or heat it with a heating pad, then apply and rub for five minutes. After wetting gauze or bandage in a bischofite solution, make a compress by applying it to the joint, and cover it with a packet or film on top and wrap it warmly.
  6. Dry sand compress. Heat the sand in the oven, pour it into the sock, apply it to the sore joints. Thus, not only a warming effect is obtained, but also nutritious, since the sand contains a large amount of mineral substances and metals.
  7. Aloe leaf compress. Pass aloe through a meat grinder, add honey and vodka to the resulting juice in a ratio of 1: 2: 3. Mix everything thoroughly and place the mass on a previously prepared piece of gauze, folded in several layers. Cover the compress with a film and a towel.
