Sokolniki District (Moscow) is one of the districts of the Eastern District of Moscow. Located in the northeast, but closer to the center of the Russian capital. Its main attraction is Sokolniki Park, which is considered the most popular in the city. The area of ​​the district is about 1000 hectares, and the number of inhabitants is approximately 61,000 people (in 2017). The housing stock of the district is equal to 1 million 385 thousand square meters (in 2012). The population density in 2017 was 5915 people / sq. km

The Sokolniki station also appeared a long time ago - in 1935. The famous Sokolniki Sports Palace was erected in 1973.

In the second half of the 70s, the planned development of the area with high-rise buildings began, but for a long time the private sector covered most of the territory.

Now in the district there are 17 kindergartens, 9 schools, 4 libraries, 13 medical institutions, as well as the Roman Viktyuk Theater.

In 2017, the population of the Sokolniki district amounted to 60,834 people. Dynamics shows a smooth annual growth. Since 2002, the population has increased by 6 thousand people. It offers residents 3 trolleybus routes, 4 - trams and 8 bus routes. There is only 1 metro station - Sokolniki. However, the station "Electrozavodskaya" is located at the borders of the district. Railway transport is represented by the railway platform of the Moscow railway of the Yaroslavl direction.

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ was built in 1909-13 in a modernist style. The shape of the building resembles a cross.

The Church of the Nativity of the Forerunner was built in 1915-17, and then remained inactive for a long time.

This station appeared back in 1935 and belongs to the first launch site of the Moscow metro. It is made in the classic Soviet style and is lined with marble. Between the marble columns there were spherical-type chandeliers (chandeliers - balls). Now they have been replaced by fluorescent lamps.

The Sokolniki metro station itself belongs to a three-span column of shallow-laying station. It is located at a depth of 9 meters. In total there are 2 rows of columns of 23 pieces each. The distance between them is 7 meters. Another feature is the dead ends, which are used for parking trains and technical needs.

Initially, the floor of the station was made of asphalt. However, the later coating was replaced with slabs of black and gray granite. For the cladding of columns used gray-blue marble. White marble was used in the turnstile room.

The station opens at 5:30 a.m. and closes at 1:00 a.m.
