Difficult work on top. Occupational Safety and Health

Work at heights must be carried out with extreme caution, because such work is extremely dangerous. Therefore, labor protection includes a number of rules that must be observed when organizing the work process.

Strict adherence to safety measures is necessary to ensure the safety of the person himself, so you should never neglect the requirements that are prescribed in the charter of the enterprise.

First of all, the rules of working at altitude require climbers to undergo a mandatory medical examination. Typically, professions involving work on the surface of the earth at a height of 1 to 5 meters include: electrician, electrician, electric welder, etc. Representatives of such professions must undergo a medical examination once a year. There are a number of medical contraindications that may be an obstacle for a person to perform climbing work. Moreover, work at heights should be carried out by persons not older than 60 and not younger than 18 years of age, who are required to have qualifications of at least 3rd grade and undergo the necessary training. The main tool that saves from falling from a height at the time of work remains a safety belt.

It is very important that all employees undergo training at the workplace, which includes a detailed explanation of the features of the operation of safety devices, training in the rules for observing the workplace in the required state and existing approaches to it.

All work at heights must be carried out by people in helmets, without observing this condition, employees are not allowed to perform professional duties.

Any actions using pyrotechnic, pneumatic and electrified tools are not allowed to be carried out with portable ladders or step-ladders. For such purposes, ladders with upper platforms that have railings, cradles, scaffolds, lifts, towers should be used.

If the employee is not able to fasten the sling of his safety belt to the structure, it is necessary to use a safety rope or a climbing device.

If live parts pass under the construction on which the actions are performed, the tool must be tied without fail.

In some situations, when the workplace, as well as approaches to it pass through live parts without fencing, they must be turned off.

It is not allowed to carry out work under wires that are energized (high voltage power lines).

Installation work at heights should be carried out on specially installed and fixed structures. Suspended stairs, platforms and other devices must be fixed on the mounted structures before they are lifted to the appropriate height in the design position.

The transition between installers must be carried out using special bridges and ladders, as well as stairs that have fences in places where it is impossible to use safety ropes and safety belts.

Any installation of large-panel, precast-monolithic and multi-storey structures should be carried out according to a pre-compiled project. It must necessarily reflect the specifics of the mounted structures, indicating the technical methods for their safe installation. The documentation also indicates the exact location and positioning of the reinforcement, which is contained in the structural elements, and the maximum permissible loads that can be exerted on it as a whole.

Instructions for labor protection for workers who perform a series of actions at an altitude require strict observance of all the rules prescribed in it. The same is required of managers who are responsible for the activities of their subordinates.

Remember that compliance with all the rules that are prescribed in safety measures will, first of all, allow you to save and secure your life.
