From an early age, a person knows what management is. First, we are faced with control, for example, a children's bike, then a car, then with equipment control, and so on, on an increasing basis. It is found in all areas of human activity.
Management styles in management are a way (or their combination) of interaction of the manager with subordinates. Relations with staff directly affect the efficiency and productivity of the entire company.
As in any other field, research is being carried out in the field of head – subordinate relations, due to which three main areas were determined that determine the management styles of the organization.
Directive style is defined as dominant. The leader seeks to keep abreast of everything that happens and demands to report it to him. With this management, all decisions are taken solely by the head. Relations with the team are completely absent, and management methods are orders, reprimands, comments, and deprivation of bonuses. The directive style completely deprives the staff of the possibility of initiative, which affects their fighting spirit and moral and psychological mood. As a rule, in companies with such a leader, there is a large turnover of personnel; work is carried out on the principle of "no irreplaceable."
A democratic management style implies a separation of powers between the manager and his deputy. The manager will always listen to the staff and his point of view. With this management, decisions are made collectively, which makes employees feel - the leader is in the same team with them, they pursue the same goals. If we consider all the leadership styles in management, then democratic is more successful. In such a company, communication with the staff takes place in a friendly manner, by the method of requests, recommendations, wishes, advice. The leader for employees seems to be an authority that will always help, which is an important factor for creating a favorable moral and psychological mood. A team with a democratic management style is reliable and works as a whole.
In the list of "Leadership styles in management" the following is a
liberal style. The leader does not fulfill his true mission - to manage. He, as a rule, is waiting for instructions from his superiors or is influenced by his subordinates. All work rests with subordinates, while the manager prefers to evade questions and relieve himself of all responsibility. The work of employees is poorly controlled, which can lead to disastrous results.
It would seem that the considered leadership styles in management are different, and the most practical of them is democratic. Maybe this is so, the directive is more suitable for people who have under their supervision a small staff of workers. Liberal style can be found in creative workshops or studios. Creative people are more independent and do not require constant monitoring.
Therefore, one cannot say that one style is bad and the other is good. It all depends on the specific situation, on the type of activity of the company, on the personal qualities of the leader, on the basis of which management styles are formed. Management does not imply a specific management style for a particular company and is not limited to it. Often there is a combination of all three styles, which in itself is an effective solution in a particular situation.
