Dagestan is the birthplace of many modern fighters representing Russia. Indeed, in the vastness of this Caucasian region, children from a young age are attracted to all kinds of martial arts: sambo, wrestling, and oriental martial arts. Thanks to this, many athletes in the future master the universal combat technique, testing their strengths in various versions of MMA. One of these athletes was Shamil Zavurov, the fights with the participation of which are always very bright, spectacular and inspiring.
Sports skills of a fighter
The main trump card of any fighter specializing in the mixed style is actually sports training and the ability to work in the stalls. And with these skills, Shamil is in perfect order. After all, Zavurov is not only a professional athlete, but also a master of sports in freestyle wrestling. In the past, Shamil was engaged in combat sambo, in which he reached real heights, having received the title of master of sports of international level.
Along with freestyle wrestling, which is extremely common in the North Caucasus, Shamil also studied the art of Wushu Sanda, due to which he was able to perfectly master the shock technique. But despite numerous hobbies, Shamil's priority was still close-range fights and classic wrestling. Zavurov, like many other Dagestanis, is characterized by aggressiveness, assertiveness and partly suppression of the enemy at a psychological level.
Carier start
Shamil Zavurov - a native of Dagestan, Kizilyurt district. His nationality is Dargin, and his age is 33 years. As a child, Shamil, like most of his peers, was very interested in various types of martial arts and regularly practiced wushu sanda, freestyle wrestling and sambo. Once, Shamil had a chance to become a member of the group of the famous professional Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who glorified not only himself, but also many of his students.
One of the features of Shamil Zavurov is his universality: due to his varied training, the wrestler can both successfully work in close combat and give very powerful blows from a long distance. The trainer recommended Shamil to focus on mixed martial arts and work out the technique under his guidance.
Shamil held his first MMA fight at the age of 20, becoming a participant in the Dagestan - Azerbaijan match. The fight lasted only two rounds and ended with a confident victory of the Dagestan.
Going to another league
Having gained experience in fights with little-known and even weak rivals, Zavurov gained a chance to prove himself at a qualitatively new level. The Dagestan has signed a promising agreement with the famous organization in the field of mixed martial arts. The first duel of Shamil as part of the M-1 organization took place in St. Petersburg - at that time the athlete was 25 years old. A rather strong wrestler Rashid Magomedov spoke out against the Dagestan . This confrontation turned out to be one of the most controversial fights in Shamil's career. The opponent in the last minutes of the match brought the Dagestan out of balance with the help of a prohibited reception. But despite numerous protests from the team of Zavurov, the referees announced his defeat.
However, this failure in the life of the Dagestan was followed by 13 confident victories over two years, due to which the photo of Shamil Zavurov rightfully occupied the top of the M-1 rating.
End of contract with M-1
The last match in the M-1 team, Shamil held in 2012. The opponent of Zavurov in this battle, which ended in a draw, was Alexander Yakovlev. However, the referees of the match, having offered the Dagestan an additional round instead of declaring a fair draw, unbalanced Shamil and encouraged the athlete to stop his cooperation with M-1.
Last years
After an unsuccessful fight with Yakovlev, which ended with an unjust decision of the judges to lose Shamil, Zavurov rarely went into the ring. Fights with Shamil Zavurov were temporarily suspended, which many publications wrote for a long time. From 2012 to this day, the athlete has only 4 fights. The last match of Shamil took place in 2016 under the auspices of the Akhmat team. The enemy in the battle was Hussein Khaliyev, who, as a result, defeated Zavurov by knocking him out.
