The story began with a simple but very bright idea: it was urgent to open not a Japanese restaurant, but with Japanese cuisine. Then Mikhail Tevelev - the man who founded the restaurant "Two sticks" (St. Petersburg) - and could not imagine that his adventure would turn into one of the strongest platforms.

The first institution was opened in 2003 in the Northern capital, and only 8 years later the opening took place in Moscow. Today, the restaurant "Two Sticks" is a 31 point in two major cities and a popular network of Japanese cuisine.

The peculiarity lies in the fact that the waiters are exclusively men, dressed in red T-shirts with funny inscriptions on their backs, but more on that later.

The Japanese restaurant "Two Sticks" offers visitors to try the original according to the technology of serving and unusual dishes: shark meat steak, squid kebab, noodles with pine nuts and eggs. In addition, classic and beloved rolls, sushi, dim sums are also served here.

Interior Features

The new network "Two Sticks" (St. Petersburg) surprised residents and visitors with their vision of what modern sushi bars are. There was not a single detail reminiscent of Japan: waiters without a kimono, the absence of bonsai on the windowsills. The establishments resembled European airports: ascetic shops painted in dark colors, plasma panels, long tables, mirrors, and displays.

What else surprises the restaurant "Two Sticks"? The menus and prices are so varied that it seems to be their success. The food card is designed to please absolutely every guest: vegetarians, spicy fans, sweet tooth, as well as anyone who wants to fully enjoy the variety of sushi, rolls, barbecue, salads, sashimi.

As for prices, they are set at an average level. For example, for a business lunch you will pay 250-300 rubles. Inexpensive, right?

The management of the restaurant chain was eager to bring new notes to the design familiar to visitors. The main idea was to combine traditional Japanese cuisine with American (it is worth noting that the institution on Nevsky Prospekt is the only one where Western dishes are offered in addition to Asian cuisine) - it was necessary to display this in the interior. Prerequisite: divide the restaurant space into 2 opposite zones.

To translate the idea of ​​leadership, designers had to rethink a lot of iconic American films, where the action took place in roadside cafes. Thus, the following details appeared in the updated interior: jukeboxes of the 50s are racks for waiters; checkered patterns appeared on laminated countertops; hung neon signs; all seats are made of patent leather, and comics and portraits of famous Western actors and celebrities appeared on the walls.

The American-style area is organized along large facade windows. Glossy snow-white lampshades are adjacent to neon signs, and the unusual red color present in the furniture details attracts people to visit the Two Wands restaurant chain.

Style separation is present in everything: even the floors and the ceiling have their own individuality and are in complete harmony with all the details of the interior. Even 2 bathrooms are decorated in accordance with the style direction.

As for the Japanese part of the interior, the designers had to make several changes in it. Bar counters and walls were finished with wooden panels, an updated rack system for apples appeared, partitions appeared between the tables.

New items

Since May 1, the Two Sticks restaurant has made several non-standard decisions in the menu section, which turned out to be Mediterranean summer and easy: a lot of seafood and vegetables.

The pan-Asian portion was diluted with complex tuna salad and peanuts; dishes with harmonious combinations appeared in Italian cuisine: smoked duck, cream cheese and curry sauce, and in Japanese - rolls with salsa.

Desserts moved to a separate card. Now it will be difficult for visitors to choose between a delicate chocolate ganache with meringue and a cake with boiled condensed milk, which made a worthy competition to eclairs and a chocolate cake with peppermint sauce.

Cocktails

I would like to pay special attention to drinks - bright, healthy, warming, spicy and incredibly aromatic!

Tea is brewed in a French press, and seasonal products are the basis for cocktails. For example, latte "Tykvando" tea , prepared using pumpkin puree, a bright smoothie "Favorite beets" made from scarlet wholesome beets.

And more recently, the menu was replenished with new strong drinks - these are sbitn and egg-legs.

Egg-leg is a drink made from milk and raw eggs. They came up with it in Scotland, and in Europe it is a traditional Christmas table cocktail.

Sbitni (sbiten) - a Russian drink based on water, honey, herbs and spices. Depending on the season, it is served hot or cold.

Today in the restaurant chain there are 2 classic alcohol stores: “It's time for bars” (pineapple juice + vodka) and “Drunk Spicy” (beer). Each option is prepared using honey and spices.
