"Stubborn" is a person in isolation from reality

The ability of a language to gradually change, adapt to the desires of contemporaries has been known for a long time. Some words appeared only a few decades ago, but have already taken a significant place in everyday communication. One of them is a “stubborn”, not the most flattering characteristic, which can be awarded to a friend or colleague. But what is the meaning of the speaker? Is this by all means an insult or an appropriate term in the assessment of the interlocutor?

Narcotic past

The departure of the USSR was a difficult time. Citizens were happy about going into space, engaged in speculation, tried to diversify their lives with various prohibited substances. So the term “stubborn” arose among heroin addicts. This designation is for those who have already taken a fair dose of opiates and have completely disconnected from the world while in euphoria. In this state, a person either does not respond to external stimuli, or demonstrates an extremely inadequate, even dangerous reaction for others.

Over time, jargon has spread to everyday life. If a friend said: “Yes, you stupid!” - means that your behavior is very strange, causes sincere bewilderment. Ridiculous actions or actions, a specific sense of humor allow loved ones to get rid of an ironic remark, referring to a clearly obscured mind. Or to incredible tenacity!

Ambiguous Present

There is an alternative decryption. You can disconnect from reality during hobby classes. Do you like to organize small marathons to watch whole seasons of your favorite series? Lock yourself from everyone in your private room, where you cut out miniatures of ships? This stubborn behavior in the best sense of the word. As a verb, the term under study is combined with any activity and indicates a sincere enthusiasm, hopelessness of attempts to tear a person from the object of interest.

Unfortunately, there is an unpleasant interpretation with a criminal bias. It implies a serious wound with a cold weapon of piercing type. The townsfolk do not encounter this, but must be prepared for any situation.

Stubborn may be called stubborn

Promising future

It is highly doubtful that in the near future the definition will appear in business etiquette or in official correspondence. Comparison with a drug addict does not attract a compliment: it is unlikely that the boss or potential client will like this assessment. On the other hand, “stubborn” is a word without a negative connotation, despite a difficult fate. In informal communication, the adjective serves as a marker, a request to exercise restraint and try to behave accordingly.
