On October 29, at the Otkrytie Arena stadium, the next Moscow derby between Spartak and CSKA was held. Do not once again write about the principle of this confrontation. In recent years, Spartak has not played the best games against CSKA. Despite the fact that “Spartak” is the leader in terms of the total number of victories over the entire almost century-long period of the confrontation, the last two years the red-white team could not defeat the main rival.
Spartak approached this match as a favorite. The medical staff of the red and white managed to prepare Promes, Ze Luis and Glushakov, who had missed the previous round, for the game, and the army team experienced personnel problems: there were not enough players to fill the bench.
From the first minutes, the Spartak players began to actively control the ball, which continued throughout the match. Spartacists combined, trying to get close to the opponent’s goal, CSKA football players responded with counterattacks. In the 19th minute, Denis Glushakov hit due to a free kick, and the ball, bouncing off the lawn right in front of Akinfeev, flew into the goal.
At the end of the half, CSKA had its own moment, which they failed to realize, and the teams left with the advantage of the home team to break. The second half was full of struggle, but, despite the status of the game and many violations, the referee did not show a single card. The players mutually searched for their chances in an attack, but more often than not all ended with inaccurate shots on goal.
At the 76th minute, Ze Luis closed Glushakov’s cool pass and doubled his team’s advantage. The CSKA coach refreshed the game in attack 20 minutes before the end, replacing the striker, and Strandberg, who entered the field in the 82nd minute, reduced the backlog. It seemed that CSKA had not yet said their final word, but in the 89th minute Zé Luis, effectively sorting out the defense of the army, set the final score.
At the Spartak match against CSKA Moscow, the attendance record for Otkrytie Arena was broken: 44,884 fans attended the game.
Leonid Fedun, the owner of FC Spartak, commented on the game: “We won, and it’s wonderful, it hasn’t been there for a long time, we’re very happy.”
After defeating CSKA, Spartak shares the first line of the table with Zenit, both teams have 28 points each, but red and white have more victories. For Muscovites, this is the best start of the season for all the time while Fedun owns Spartak.
