The material from which the laptop is made is plastic, although at first glance it might seem that this is not so. If you look at the laptop from different angles, you can notice the gradient that is inherent in metal surfaces. Greater realism adds a surface on which traces are visible as if from "polishing". But the harsh reality is that there is no metal here - it's just a well-painted plastic.

On the lid of the laptop there is nothing more than the company logo. Below, except for stickers, rubberized legs and a small grille, there is nothing either. The battery, by the way, is non-removable, so you should not look for the battery compartment. In fact, a non-removable battery is a rather controversial decision, because in the future, if the user wants to change the battery, he will have to unscrew the entire bottom cover.

Move on. On the right side of the ASUS x541s is the DVD drive tray. But on the left side all the connectors moved: a socket for connecting an external power supply, a USB-type C port, aka Thunderbird 3.0, a connector for connecting a network cable (RJ-45), a VGA port for connecting an external monitor, an HDMI connector, a port USB 3.0, USB 2.0 port and a 3.5 mm combo jack for connecting headphones or a microphone.

This arrangement is generally not bad, but I would like to see another USB port on the right side so that I could connect a wired mouse. They will have to connect the mouse on the left side, and then throw the wire over the laptop so that it does not interfere. But you could make it easier - add just one USB to the right side.

The display of the ASUS x541s has typical characteristics for today, but they can vary depending on the configuration. So, the top version will have a screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080, touch support, glossy finish, 60 Hz and LED backlight. In other cases, everything will be almost the same, only the resolution will change to 1366x768 and touch support will be removed. Of the additional, it is worth noting the presence of anti-reflective coating of pretty good quality. The display matrix is ​​made using TN technology, viewing angles are not very good. However, thanks to the efforts of ASUS engineers, it was possible to achieve a colorful, clear and bright picture, which, of course, is more important.
