Shipbuilding Plant Avangard OJSC, Petrozavodsk: history, description, address, photo. Vacancies, work reviews

The Avangard shipyard is a large industrial enterprise in Karelia, which carries out large-scale orders for civil and military shipbuilding, also deals with the generation of thermal energy, ship repair, modernization and repair of railway equipment and wagons. The plant is located on the shore of Lake Onega, having the ability to take ships to its own mooring wall. Direct access to the Baltic, White, Black and Caspian Seas via the Volga-Baltic and White Sea-Baltic canals is possible from the enterprise.

History

OJSC Avangard shipyard

In fact, the Avangard shipyard appeared in 1939, when all of Europe lived in anticipation of a likely war. Various types of weapons were developed, including the active development of torpedoes. The government decided to build torpedo sighting stations.

In the north, work on the creation of TPNs began in the region of the Petrozavodsk Bay. By 1941, there appeared a 172-meter embankment, buildings of three workshops, and a private garage. A highway, railway tracks, and drinking water supply were brought to the plant. In fact, it was a large-scale industrial cluster, but they did not manage to develop it until the end, as the war began.

They returned to the project immediately after the end of World War II. It was then that the official history of production at the Avangard shipyard began.

Famous ships

Over the past years, several dozen ships were launched, some of which should be discussed separately.

In 1947, the first fishing bots made as part of the Albatross project left the stocks. They were stable and unpretentious in operation. In fact, it was these small fishing boats that supplied the whole country with fish immediately after the war.

In 1954, a new stage began in the history of the Avangard shipyard. Then began the production of small fishing seiners. 20-meter ships were soon sent to the Far East. At a time when the country was led by Nikita Khrushchev, who was not indifferent to agriculture, the company began production of mini-bulk carriers of the Kolkhoznitsa project. These were small vessels that could carry up to 22 and a half tons of cargo. They could work in shallow water, even go into small and narrow rivers.

Among other famous projects are lifeboats for the world's first icebreaker "Lenin", ambulances and traveling boats, floating cranes, trawlers, refrigerators.

Output

Now we’ll talk in more detail about the products that were produced at this enterprise. After World War II, they engaged in the repair and production of mine minesweepers. These were special purpose ships that performed the task of finding, detecting and destroying sea mines. They also carried other ships and ships through minefields. In a number of states, they are the basis of the component of the mine-sweeping forces of the navy.

Also, the factory organized the production of small self-propelled dry cargo vessels, fishing vessels, boats and yachts.

An important stage was the launch of the Albatross project vessels, which were intended for fishing in the Barents and White Seas. They were launched into mass production in 1947.

Over the next two decades, sanitary and traveling boats, lifeboats, fishing boats, river sirens, sea buoys, tricolor lights, winches, tower cranes, oil tanks, flow generators, and irrigators were massively built.

In 1954, the mass production of small all-metal fishing seiners, which were engaged in fishing in the seas of the Far East, was launched.

In the late 1950s, a large series of small bulk carriers of the Kolkhoznitsa project began to be built, which we already talked about in this article. Their demand was so high that almost two thousand ships were released. From the mid-60s to the mid-70s, trawlers-refrigerators of the Karelia type were mass-produced. In total, more than a hundred such ships were built.

In 1976, the construction of cargo ships of the Kizhi project began. In 1977, construction began on small fishing refrigerator trawlers of the Palanga project, and Kolos cargo and passenger motor ships.

It is noteworthy that since the mid-50s, the enterprise reoriented somewhat, starting to produce non-core products for itself. These are kitchen furniture, sporting goods, garden houses, furniture sets "Birch", the first in the history of domestic shipbuilding pleasure fiberglass yachts "Assol", pleasure boats "Birch", "Karelia", "Mullet", mini-sailing dinghies "Junior". For some time there was even a temporary repair of trolleybuses.

Stages of formation

Vanguard Plant

Throughout its history, the company has changed many names. Initially, it was a torpedo-sighting station, which was called the "Northern Point". It was founded on the basis of the plant in the 38th.

In 1939, the North Point became a machine-building enterprise. During the Great Patriotic War, the plant carried out defense orders, so it had only serial numbers - first 375, and then 789. In the 60s, the company carried out secret military orders, it was not officially named, passing everywhere as mailbox No. 14.

In 1966, the company received a large number of civilian orders, the number of defense projects decreased, the plant ceased to be so secret, becoming in official documents to pass as the Avangard machine-building enterprise. He became a shipyard in 1972.

In modern Russia

In the 90s, a new era began in the fate of the state enterprise. It became Avangard Sudostroitelny Zavod OJSC. The history of survival at that time was not easy, as the armed forces were falling apart along with the whole country.

Fortunately, by the beginning of the 90s the company still had unfinished orders for three minesweepers, but in difficult times the Ministry of Defense nevertheless refused them, having decided to send the ships for scrap. Now such decisions look especially surprising, given that one of them was more than 90 percent ready, almost all the necessary weapons were installed on it.

Then the plant management took a bold step, selling it on their own, and paid the salary to the employees on the proceeds.

The Avangard shipyard for a long time tried to survive, being actually at the bankruptcy stage. At the same time, some experts believed that he was deliberately and deliberately destroyed, intending to sell rare equipment. Despite the problems and the complete lack of prospects, in 2009 the company still celebrated its 70th anniversary.

"Orion"

WIG Construction

Today, based on the Avangard shipyard, the Orion ekranoplanostroitelnoe association limited liability company operates. It has existed since 2011. It has been decided to launch ekranoplanes for the needs of the Federal Security Service. Foreign orders have already appeared. In particular, from Iran.

The center has developed two military and civilian models. One is able to accommodate 12 people and one ton of cargo, and the second - 30 crew members and 30 tons of cargo.

Initially, only 32 people worked here, most of whom were reserve officers from the disbanded fighter aviation regiment. It is noteworthy that among them were pilots who had previously flown on fighters, and now became test pilots of ekranoplanes. The backbone of the staff of the enterprise was made up of specialists in engineering and technical professions.

Despite the fact that the ekranoplanes were assembled in Petrozavodsk, the main design base remained in Moscow. On the basis of Vanguard, production of parts, collection and testing of machines was arranged.

The ekranoplan, the production of which was quickly established here, is a special vessel with an air dynamic cushion, which flies at a relatively short distance several meters above the ground, water, ice or snow. It is noteworthy that at equal speeds and mass, its wing area is much smaller than that of an airplane. At the same time, according to the international classification, ekranoplans belong to sea vessels.

Their development was initially actively conducted during the Soviet Union. At the same time, the most famous Soviet ekranoplanes were the Lun strike missile carrier, the Eagle transport and landing assault force, experimental under the name Caspian Monster. When the Soviet Union collapsed, the development of ekranoplanes almost completely stopped. But in recent years, interest in ekranoplanostroeniya began to revive.

Some of the samples have already been sent to Iran. In the Caspian Sea, they are planned to be used for rescue operations, transportation of goods and transportation of people. WIGs have the ability to accelerate to a speed of 220 kilometers per hour, while they can carry one ton of cargo at a distance of 600 kilometers. Private customers from other countries also began to show interest in these products. The company notes that ekranoplans are considered piece goods, since they do not have a state order. Ekranoplanes are capable of transporting people, mail and cargo to hard-to-reach places. In addition, they show high efficiency in eliminating the effects of industrial and natural disasters.

In 2016, it became known that the company acquired several more workshops of the plant in order to expand production. At the same time, the Avangard plant itself, which actually went bankrupt in 2010, was restored in 2016, starting to slowly establish production, although the pace was not comparable to what it was during the Soviet Union.
