Anna Bogaliy was born in 1979 in the small town of Vozhega, which is located in the Vologda region. When the girl was 5 years old, she and her mother moved to Murmansk. From an early age, Ana really enjoyed skiing.
At age 12, Bogaliy accidentally ended up in the biathlon section. She liked this sport. Anna began to study hard, and soon the first achievements came.
At 19, the Russian biathlete managed to win the gold medal of the World Junior Championship. A year later, Anna Bogaliy won the bronze medal in the relay at the continental championship. After winning the National Cup, the athlete goes to the main team of Russia.
Professional career
The debut biathlon season 2000/01 was very successful for Bogaliy. In individual competitions, the young athlete managed to get into the flower ceremony three times. But Anna showed the best result in the relay at the World Championships in Pokljuka. Here she, as part of the Russian national team, was for the first time at the highest step of the podium.
Such results allowed Bogaliy to take part in the 2002 Olympics, which was unsuccessful for the athlete.
In the 2002/03 season, Anna conquered a new sports peak - she won the individual race at the World Cup in Antholz. And the next year was the most successful in the career of a biathlete. In addition to two victories and four podiums at the stages of the World Cup, Anna Bogaliy became a three-time winner of the world championship in Oberhof.
In the 2004/05 season, the Russian athlete continued to delight her fans. In addition to one victory and the podium at the stages of the World Cup, Bogaliy became the world champion in the relay race. In addition, Anna managed to win a gold and three bronze medals at the continental championship in Novorossiysk.
Despite not very good results in the 2005/06 season, Bogaliy got into the Russian national team at the Olympic Games in Turin. After a wonderful race, the Russian biathletes with Anna in the squad managed to win the relay.
Having missed several seasons due to pregnancy and the birth of a child, in 2009 Anna Bogaliy-Titovets decides to return to big sport and take part in the 2010 Olympics. The return was very successful - as part of the Russian team, the biathlete again won the relay race.
After the 2010 Olympics, Anna Bogaliy participated in races at the World Cup stages for two more seasons, after which she announced the end of her sports career.
Biathlete's personal life
In September 2004, Anna married Maxim Titovets, from whom in 2009 she gave birth to a son. Now the former athlete is divorced.
Permanent residence - Novosibirsk, but loves to travel to his native Vozhega. Here, in her honor, the youth sports school was renamed, and the Anna Bogaliy Cup biathlon tournament is held annually.
