Fire hydrants are installed to take water from a common network, this allows you to respond quickly in case of emergency. In addition, they can be used for land reclamation. Features of the installation of the hydrant are to create certain conditions for its protection from fire, so it is often installed in special equipped shelters. Hydrants exist in two varieties:
1. Ground. They are fixed on the surface of the earth, located on the plumbing system. Moreover, very often a fire tower joins them immediately after installation.
2. The second variety is underground hydrants. They are designed to connect to water wells. Their work is provided by a column mounted on the surface.

Fire column. Purpose and structural features
To ensure the operation of the hydrant, a special key element is used, which is intended for direct connection with it. In this case, it is the fire column that acts as a link for supplying water through the hydrant. The main components of this element are the body and head. At the bottom of the case there is a bronze ring with a triangular thread, it provides a reliable installation. It should be noted that, especially for underground hydrants, there is a KPA fire column, with which you can open and close the access of water from the well. Features of the fire column
During operation, the protective cover of the hydrant is folded down and the fire column is screwed to a tight connection, which is determined by the level of pressing the gasket. Water pressure control is provided by turning the handle counterclockwise, while the rod rotates, which gradually leads to the opening of the valve through other connecting elements. Then the water flows through the formed passage into the hydrant body and passes into the fire column. At the end of the work, the pressure is closed in the reverse order, and the remaining water is drained through a special channel, which is blocked when the valve is open through a rubber seal.
