Raspberry Chambord liquor - originally from France

This drink has its own history. Liqueur “Chambord” was made from raspberries (the so-called black and ordinary) from a long time ago, from the XVII century. In addition to these berries, a drink with a strength of 16.5% is added: vanilla from Madagascar, zest of oranges from Morocco, honey with cognac. It turns out very authentic and original. And although some sources attribute it to a blackberry "clan", in fact, Chambord liquor is raspberry.

Chambord liquor: country and castle

The Chambord brand was registered only in 1982. But the raspberry liquor “Chambord”, of course, appears much earlier. According to legend, its name is closely associated with the castle of the same name - it was here that Louis XIV tasted an authentic drink. It was like this: the king visited Chambord Castle, in France, during the feast he was presented with the pride of local winemakers: liquor made from raspberries and other ingredients. Louis was so pleased with the drink that he ordered to record the intricacies of its manufacture. Since then, this cordial has become a favorite royal drink, and got its name in honor of the castle itself.

Continuation of a story

Almost four centuries later, an American named Cooper decided to settle in France and settled not far from this castle. Once he had to taste the local liquor, he learned the recipe and production technology. And soon he launched a large-scale business, factory conditions allowed to reduce the cost. Amazing liquor "Chambord" again spread throughout France. And after that, the whole world started talking about the great taste of the drink. Today it is made in the Loire, a valley twenty kilometers from the historic castle.

"Chambord" is released in a specific container. Until 2010, the bottle was decorated with a gilt inscription in the shape of a belt around the entire container and a crown on the lid. The bottle itself is a reminder of the history of the drink and its royal glory. The brand’s tagline is Because no reason (which translates to “but just like that”). Since 2010, restyling has been made, and the liquor tank has become more modern. The manufacturer also began using this brand name for raspberry vodka (37.5% strength).

Manufacturing technology

Liqueur "Chambord Black Rasberry" is prepared in a few steps.

  1. Fresh and ripe raspberry berries are soaked in alcohol. After 4 weeks, add a little more alcohol to the tincture and stand for 15 days.
  2. After the berries are choked. The resulting mixture is the basis for the future drink.
  3. Cognac with vanilla and other components are added to the mixture: spices, zest, honey with herbs (in what proportions are the manufacturer's secrets). A practically ready drink should be infused for some time so that a unique bouquet is formed. The master of blend combines, as a rule, alcohols with different aging periods in order to obtain a more harmonious and balanced taste and aroma.
