The history of the “Russian Silicon Valley” is rich and interesting. Zelenograd was originally conceived as a major center for the textile industry. But microchips gradually replaced soft toys and fabrics. Nowadays Zelenograd is the main research and production center of Russian electronics, including microelectronics.

The current Zelenograd arose in the mid-1950s on the site of several former villages and summer cottages. In 1963, its modern name took shape, and in 1964, Igor Pokrovsky became the main architect of the young city. Thanks to him, a whole complex of unique Soviet buildings grew in Zelenograd.
