There are words that we consider to be our own. You cannot come up with a greater degree of kinship between us and these words. But if you study the history of the language, then our native structural-semantic units will be borrowings, albeit very ancient. It’s difficult to talk about others, but the meaning of the word “hero” refers exactly to such. To prove the shocking thesis, we need a short digression into history.
Origin
It is good that we have an etymological dictionary as a vehicle, as a key, unlocking the wisdom of centuries. So let's go there, for sure such a wonderful word is not deprived of attention.
The dictionary claims that the word hero is borrowed from the Turkic. The heroes of Turkic and Mongolian tales were often called “batyrs”, “bayaturas”, which meant “mighty warriors”. In Russian, the same word is referred to as "hero". It is also interesting that in other languages there are similar definitions similar to the meaning of the word “hero”, for example, in Hindi there is “bahadur”, that is, “bold”, “courageous”.
In general, nothing bad happened, but it’s still a little sad that our “hero” turned out to be a loan as a result. But let's try to console ourselves with an appeal to the explanatory dictionary.

It is clear that the heroes of the epics of at least Russian, at least foreign, remained in the deep past. Now fairy tales are replaced by secular chronicle. The people who live in it are no different from elves or powerful sorcerers, because they have a completely different life, and they live in some kind of amazing country where there are almost no problems other than psychological ones. If sorcerers and elves have survived to our time, then why not be heroes? The meaning of the word follows:
- Hero of Russian epics, performing military feats.
- A man of tremendous strength, stamina, courage (figurative).
But the main emphasis is, of course, on strength. Because it is difficult to call a frail man a hero, even if he is brave three times. Indeed, courage can manifest itself not only in feats of arms. But in the noun that is being considered, the military motive prevails, and there is no escape from this.
Synonyms and sentences
After acquaintance with the origin of the word “hero” is left behind as well as its meaning, you can offer the reader suggestions for fixing the material:
