Modern society is distinguished by the absence of any generally accepted ideals. If earlier in every culture there was an unwritten code of laws relating to the most diverse spheres of human life, now everyone in this respect must rely on their values. Demoralization is a process in which life priorities as such are absent. Unfortunately, not everyone has sustainable values. Neither Orthodoxy nor a communist society with its ideals dominates people. Unfortunately, having gained freedom, not every person can dispose of it properly.
What is demoralization?
First of all, demoralization is a weakness in the face of difficulties, a lack of motivation and willpower to confront the challenges that life is rich in. A person who is losing his job, his position in society, his health, can be so devastated by this event that he cannot find the strength to see other meanings. Meanwhile, something worth living for always remains.
But if a person chooses to allow his weakness, does not want to fight with himself, with the circumstances of his life and his vices, then he will inevitably reach such a stage as the decomposition of personality. The fact is that sooner or later you have to pay for everything. Demoralization is a particularly tough lender. One who makes a choice in favor of alcohol or drugs, one after another, loses his job, family, property. One who chooses an endless string of fun and pleasure will also find himself alone sooner or later.
Transience of time
In addition, the human age is short. Burning mindlessly young years, young people do not think that they will not always be full of health and strength. Sooner or later, family support, good professional experience, and money savings will come in handy. But all this can be achieved only by a holistic personality, who at one time made a choice in favor of patient and hard work, rather than momentary pleasures.
Why it happens? Demoralization is a process that cannot begin suddenly. This indulgence of laziness and unwillingness to somehow solve their problems. It’s much easier to pour yourself a half glass of alcohol so you don’t think about problems. Only, alas, the problems are never solved from this, even though alcohol creates such an illusion. Anyone who makes such an easy choice, condones his vices, gradually loses his identity. The meaning of the word demoralization just designates this process.
What can be done?
How can one resist such entropy? Only with the help of ceaseless labor and work on oneself. In particular, attention to this issue is necessary if a person has a tendency to alcoholism or drug addiction. Then the development of willpower and interest in life should be in his first place. Since the predisposition due to circumstances or due to genes can play a trick on a person. One fine day, he will find himself useless and sick. But who wants to give their strength and attention to someone who is used to constant pleasures and vices?
