Who's that clucking in the yard?
In the poultry yard you will not meet anyone: from small quails to large and important turkeys, from screaming geese to imposing indowas. But still, the most famous in the poultry yard is chicken. Just now there are so many breeds of chickens that farmers who lived a couple of centuries ago simply could not contain their surprise if they had come to us today.
New breeds of chickens are bred and bred in different countries, but they invariably spread to other countries of the world. So, for example, such breed as chickens . And the beginning of this breed was laid in North America in the nineteenth century. It is known for certain that these hens were registered in 1874, and it was from this time that they began, let's say, a triumphal march around the world.
What is the value of the bramah breed worth?
To begin with, among the breeds obtained by crossing (the so-called crosses), three variations are known: egg, meat and meat and egg. Brahma belong to the third direction. They were bred for the purpose of obtaining both meat and eggs. However, it so happened that over time they became more and more well-fed. There are known facts when adult roosters barely kept their legs under the weight of their own weight. So the meat clearly prevailed over egg production.
But all is not so rosy in these chickens
And later, more and more attention was paid to the purely decorative features of the breed, because these hens are very beautiful: they have lush feathers and peculiar βpantiesβ on their paws. And roosters are generally considered handsome, because they have full breasts, bright earrings and a beautiful, albeit short, tail. In general, today these birds are bred mainly as a decorative breed. The most famous are light and dark bramas, but in some cases red, fawn and partridge are also distinguished.
That is, with this example, one can trace not only the geography of the distribution of hens around the world, but also how the tendencies for their cultivation can change: from egg and meat through meat to decorative.
This does not mean, of course, that the owners will not wait for eggs from these hens, but productivity has clearly fallen, and this is a fact. Moreover, we note that egg laying falls in those individuals that are more than two years old, and on average it is 100-120 eggs per year (for comparison: Loman Brown has an average of 300-310 eggs per year, and Haysex Brown - up to 360 pieces )
The difference, of course, is significant.
