The T-95 Black Eagle tank was developed at the end of the last century, and its first model was built in 1997. It used a running gear from the T-80U model and a tower of a completely new design. Some time later, the model was updated. The essence of the modernization was that the tower was installed on seven-roller chassis. According to representatives of the domestic Ministry of Defense, mass production of the machine has not yet been envisaged. Along with this, the decisions that were applied during its creation can become a model for updating the existing army weapons.
Specifications
The main thing that distinguishes the T-95 tank from the rest of the military equipment is the characteristics of the machine. Most of them are kept secret for military reasons. But it is known that the mass of the car is 50 tons. On its arsenal are a gun (152 mm) and a machine gun (12.7 mm). To protect the crew of three people, two complexes are used - "Blind-2" (passive) and "Drozd-2" (active). The tank is equipped with an engine with a capacity of 1,500 horsepower. Its dimensions are approximately the same as that of the T-80 and T-90 models. As for the design itself, it is completely new, and not created on the basis of any existing one. The novelty is equipped with a suspension that provides high smoothness of movement.
Combat compartment
Tank T-95 "Black Eagle" is distinguished by a modern layout of the fighting compartment. The gun is mounted on a small uninhabited tower in size. Under it is a standard machine for the last thirty years. The crew includes a commander, gunner-operator and driver. Their jobs are in a special capsule, covered with armor and fenced off from the machine with the tower using an armored bulkhead. Thanks to this solution, the car becomes less noticeable. Moreover, the level of safety of people inside increases.
Combining mobility with safety
The problem of successfully combining reliable protection and high patency of military equipment has not yet been solved abroad, where modern tanks weigh about 60 tons. Such a mass significantly complicates their use outside the prepared area, as well as moving to the desired place by air. The Russian T-95 tank is significantly different in this regard, as domestic engineers sacrificed the thickness of the armor in order to more effectively overcome anti-tank devices.
The T-95 Black Eagle tank became the first machine in the world to successfully protect the tower not only in safe maneuvering angles, but also against the ammunition that attacks from the air. The security system has a modular structure, the elements of which can be modernized or replaced without any serious financial investment. The machine is virtually invulnerable in terms of protection against cumulative and kinetic anti-tank weapons. As the analysis of publicly available information shows, this tank is many times superior to all the equipment that currently exists in Western countries.
Revolutionary change
Russian designers were the first in the world who dared to radically change the layout of military equipment. A revolutionary change in the new model was the movement of the crew from the tower. A significant reduction in the internal space of the machine made it possible to increase the safety of people inside.
Innovations
The new T-95 tank differs from other models also in the material from which it is made. In particular, the third generation active armor is used to build the hull and turret. In addition, the machine is equipped with an active protection system, which is based on the basis of the well-known Arena. According to unofficial information, the novelty will be equipped with a new fire control system. The principle of its operation is that information about a potential target is transmitted to the crew through television, infrared or optical channels, using a laser rangefinder or a radar station.
Weapon control system
The crew does not have the ability to control traditional optical devices. Western counterparts equipped with an uninhabited tower provide for the display of information on the battlefield on special screens. How to cope with this task, the T-95 "Black Eagle", is currently unknown.
