Club career
Lazar Markovic played his first match at the highest football level as part of the Serbian Partizan in 2011. The player’s further career continued at the Benfica and Liverpool clubs. He currently defends the colors of the Turkish Fenerbahçe team. During the period of performances, Lazar played 101 matches, in which he scored 20 goals.

The debut match in the youth team of Serbia (U-17) Lazar Markovic played in 2009. It was a meeting as part of the qualification round for the 2011 European Championships. In total for the youth teams (U-17) and (U-21) he spent 19 fights, scored 2 goals. Since 2012, Markovich began to be involved in the first national team. He made his debut in a friendly match against the Armenian team. To date, he has played 21 matches, in which he scored 2 goals.

Lazar is a pupil of the Partizan team, to which he joined at the age of 12. In 2011, a 17-year-old soccer player becomes a player in the club’s core team. He played his debut match in the championship of Serbia on May 29, 2011 in a duel with the Sloboda team. And on July 11, the player signs his first professional contract.
In the 2011/2012 season, Lazar shows a phenomenal game. The flank midfielder possessing incredible speed becomes not only an indispensable Partizan player, but is also recognized as the club’s best player in the national championship. In the same year, he holds his first European Cup match. He came to a meeting of the Champions League tournament against the club “Shkendiya” (Macedonia). In total, in the second season of performances for Partizan, Markovich played 33 matches and scored 7 goals. The season 2012/2013 was the last for the player in the championship of Serbia.
It so happened that the best young football players of Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, barely having time to light up in their championships, become players of other, more monetary European championships. Such a path was also prepared for our hero.
The rumors about the player’s transfer to Shakhtar Donetsk club in the summer of 2013 were especially zealous. At this time, a control meeting took place between Shakhtar and Partizan, which ended with the victory of the Serbian team. Moreover, the only goal in this match was scored by Lazar. Other assumptions were made regarding the place of the player's further career. All this ceased to be relevant at the end of June 2013, when Markovic signed a five-year contract with the Portuguese club Benfica. The deal amounted to 10 million euros. As part of the new team, he played the 2013/2014 season (26 matches, 5 goals) and was sold to the English Liverpool. “Benfica” has made good use of its young Serbian talent. Liverpool, he cost 20 million euros.
But fully play in the championship of England Lazar could not. Unable to break into the main team, he entered the football field in only eleven fights. From the next season of 2015/2016, Lazar Markovich is a football player of the Fenerbahce club. In the current championship of Turkey, he acts as a rented player.
