Motivation is the impetus for action.

We very often hear at work about such a thing as employee motivation. What it is? What is motivation called for and how can it affect the course of work?

In general, this term has come to us from afar; it means a person’s motivation to act. In other words, we can say that motivation is a dynamic process that is designed to control human behavior, both psychologically and physiologically. This term means meeting the needs of people. For example, in order for employees to work in full force and dedication in production, the employer has to constantly motivate them, for example, to increase bonuses or to play vouchers. All this gives a person a certain incentive to achieve the assigned goal.

Motivation is an action after which a person draws closer to his need. For example, from the same work we want a high salary or an increase in it, so we are often motivated. When raising a child, we also resort to this term, give him what he wants, and in return we get the desired result - learned lessons, a five in maths or housekeeping. All this is motivation - the person’s motivation for action.

In order to make people act, a psychological motive is needed. In different cases, this motive can be material or intangible, internal or external. Types of motivation can also be completely different:

- external motivation, which motivates the subject to a specific goal, it stimulates human behavior. For example, profit is an excellent motive for a business, and the possibility of obtaining your own housing is an employee motivation;

- intrinsic motivation is an option that is not related to external circumstances. For example, a person who saved someone’s life, first of all, thought about this person, rather than about the reward. This is the inner motive - to save, to show courage;

- positive motivation, it says here to stimulate people to achieve the necessary goal. In this case, there may be various salary increases, bonuses, awards and bonuses;

- negative motivation, which, on the contrary, is aimed at making a person feel fear of failure or punishment for incomplete work. This option suggests that the subject, afraid to be punished, will strive to avoid all troubles, thereby motivating himself to achieve a positive result. In this case, comments from superiors, deprivation of bonuses, fines, scholarships, also disagreements in the team and refusal to accept the group may be punished;

- sustainable motivation is an incentive that does not need additional incentives;

- Unstable motivation, which needs additional incentives.

Thus, a person can be stimulated in completely different ways, and not only in a positive way. Most often, many heads of educational institutions, enterprises and organizations manage to achieve good results from their students and employees only thanks to the negative motivation method. Having told a person that he will be deprived of a scholarship or award, it means to do everything so that this person does not give a single chance to do his plan.

Examples of motivation can be given as many as you want. From early childhood, people motivate each other, and then the urge to act becomes a habit. For example, for a child to pick up toys, parents often talk about further rewarding as a candy or a long-awaited car. At school, we also strive to ensure that children study well, thereby promising them everything that they want, for example, a trip to the camp on vacation or buying a bike. So everything around is a solid motivation that pushes to achieve the desired goal.
