He was born in Kiev on November 5, 1952 and raised in a family that dedicated his life to sports. His mother, Ekaterina Zakharovna Adamenko, who was a healer by her profession, was involved in athletics. She became a master of sports and set 68 records in this discipline. Later, Ekaterina Zakharovna taught at the Department of Physical Education at the Kiev Civil Engineering Institute. Oleg Blokhin’s father, Vladimir Ivanovich, became famous as a sprinter runner. In World War II, he went to war on the Leningrad Front. Then Vladimir Ivanovich worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and held the post of deputy chairman in the Kiev Regional Council of the company under the name “Labor Reserves”. Oleg Blokhin also had a brother Nikolai, who was involved in athletics, but then he became seriously interested in chemistry, the studies in which brought him world fame. He passed away in 2011.
In such a family, Oleg Blokhin simply could not but inherit a craving for sports. As a child, he was engaged in jogging and skiing perfectly. His mother hoped that he would follow in her footsteps and become an athlete; her expectations were not destined to come true. The main passion of Oleg Blokhin, which determined his whole future life, was football.
First club
When Blokhin was 12 years old, he was admitted to the children's football school of the famous Kiev Dynamo. Oleg was trained by the outstanding football specialist Alexander Vasilievich Leonidov, who had previously been the defender of the Lokomotiv Kiev club. He immediately noted the talent of the boy. Oleg could quickly develop speed and worked in training to the point of exhaustion. Young Blokhin understood that he was losing to his rivals in power elements, so he tried to catch up, constantly working on the technique of possession of the ball. He wanted to unravel the tactics of the game so that he had no equal on the field.
It is worth noting that at this time, his father provided special support to Oleg. Vladimir Ivanovich conducted additional training with his son. Every morning they went together to the nearest site. Oleg ran a cross, and his father counted the time on a stopwatch. Such preparation yielded results. At school, Blokhin began to easily bypass opponents and often score goals. This is noticed. And in 1969, when Oleg was 17 years old, he became a member of the Dynamo youth team.
Career
During his stay in the youth team, Blokhin managed to participate in a huge number of matches held in the republic. Then he got to his first European tournament, where young Dynamo players were able to win a bronze medal, having missed only the Spanish Barcelona and the Belgian Anderlecht.
Oleg Vladimirovich Blokhin scored his first goal in the club’s main team in 1972, when his team fought against Dnipro. And already three years later, his club won the European Cup and Super Cup. The first wife of Blokhin was the world champion in rhythmic gymnastics Irina Deryugina. In 1983, they had a daughter, who was named Irina. However, the marriage lasted until the 1990s. The reason was the busy work schedules of both spouses. Oleg Blokhin’s wife devoted all herself to the opened sports school, and at that time he worked in Greece, coaching local teams.
