During communication, any person can simultaneously act as a transmitter of information, and as the one who receives it, and as the one who transmits it using certain means of communication. The communication channel is rather fragile, and the person is its most vulnerable part. Misrepresentations in information can occur for a variety of reasons.
Communicative communication barriers
A person has his own feelings, as well as his individual life experience. Received or transmitted information may cause him certain feelings. It can be blocked or distorted.
Communicative barriers to communication - this is what the adequacy of the information depends on the presence or absence of which. Communication barrier is a purely psychological phenomenon. It occurs during the interaction of the communicator and the recipient. Communicative barriers in communication can be associated with hostility to the interlocutor, fear of him and so on.
A hindrance in obtaining information can also be its mechanical breakdown, ambiguity of wording, incorrect presentation and so on. In this case, the so-called information-deficit barriers arise.
In certain cases, the recipient of the information clearly hears the words, but gives all of them (or parts) the wrong meaning. Note that the transmitter does not always detect in time that communication is carried out as intended. In this case, a substitute-distorting barrier arises. Distortion may be minor. Most of all, the meaning of the initial information is distorted when the chain is long (many repeaters).
There are also emotional communication barriers. They arise when people pay more attention to their own feelings than to real facts. Words, as well as symbols carry a certain emotional charge, which gives rise to certain moods in us, cause any associations.
Communicative barriers are numerous. Among them are also those that are based on socio-cultural differences between people. Misunderstanding can also arise due to any psychological misunderstanding.
Sometimes the reason is an error in the transmission of the information itself - this is called a phonetic misunderstanding. Most often it occurs when the participants in the conversation speak different languages, while not understanding each other. The reason may also be hidden in a defect in the speech of the transmitter, incorrect intonation, too fast speech, too many words-parasites.
Semantic communication barriers can also be associated with certain differences in value systems. We are talking about the problem of slang and jargon. It is a fact that every culture is made up of many microcultures. Representatives of each of them can give common words separate meanings that will be understood only by a certain circle of people.
Logical communication barriers arise when the communicator uses logic of reasoning, which the recipient cannot or is not able to catch at all. The multiplicity of logical systems does not contradict the mind, but do not forget that when transmitting specific information, it is necessary to analyze the recipient. Otherwise, you may encounter complete misunderstanding. Communicating with a person of a near mind, it is advisable to sort things out.
Socio-cultural communication barriers can be caused by various political, cultural or life views of the interlocutors. In this case, it is important who attaches what importance to various aspects of our life.
