Kiev Station Square: history and location

Kiev Station Square is one of the Moscow squares located on the territory of Dorogomilovo in the Western District. There is no residential development in this area, however, there are many places near the site that may be of interest to both those who happened to be in the area and people looking for interesting places in the city.

Place history

The station, now called Kievsky, was built in 1899 and looked like a small one-story building, but was subsequently rebuilt several times, as well as the area around it.

Historical picture

Like many other places in Moscow, the area near the Kiev railway station was renamed, but only once. Historically, it has always been named according to the name of the object adjacent to it. Therefore, when in 1934 the station changed its name from Bryansky to Kievsky, the square also received a new name. A little later, its size also changed: the area of the Kiev Station became larger, as it was expanded to Dorogomilovskaya Street. At the same time, it was slightly rebuilt, bringing it in line with the architecture of the surrounding buildings and the Moscow River nearby.

How can I get to

The easiest way to get here is to get to the Kievskaya metro station and exit at any of the exits. However, if you use personal rather than public transport without knowing the city, you may need a navigator.

Interesting places

Kiev railway station has always been a major urban transport center, and therefore there were always a lot of people in the adjacent area. Such a mass in modern conditions could not fail to attract numerous service enterprises to the square, and the convenient transport location made the square also an ideal place for buildings related to business management.

Most nearby establishments are restaurants and shopping centers. The fact that shopping and entertainment facilities are primarily located in this area is not at all surprising: the flow of people passing through the station every day is extremely high. Most of the passengers waiting for the train will not mind spending time shopping. Many of them may want to have a bite to eat, for this there are many restaurants both fast food and full-service catering establishments.

Among the less interesting places for ordinary people, one can also note numerous business centers in which the offices of various companies are located: the business center "European", "Borodino panorama", "Europe Building" and many others. Despite the fact that the business centers are not similar in architecture to each other, they have nothing interesting for guests of the capital.
