The favorite of French winemaking owes its birth to the humble Benedictine monk Pierre Perignon. True, he lived long before the appearance of this product. In the distant 17th century, Pierre served in the abbey, located near the small town of Epernay. This area was famous throughout the country for its wonderful vineyards, from which they received raw materials for the production of the most delicious wines. The diligent monk spent a lot of time on the plantations, cultivating new varieties and studying their features. He mastered the complex science of winemaking for a long time and achieved significant results. The descendants decided to perpetuate the name of the legendary monk, and at the beginning of the twentieth century the new unique drink was given the name "House of Perignon". Champagne is made in the best traditions and is considered the peak of excellence. And the unusual name is explained by the special relation to the person of Pierre Perignon. In those distant years, it was customary to appeal to all representatives of the clergy in France using the prefix “dominus”, which means “master” in Latin. In abbreviated form, it sounds like "dom." Hence the name - “Dom Perignon”.
