Greases are one of the essential elements in modern industry. They are used to handle chassis, chains, rotary axes in equipment, for valves and in many other cases.
Their use is especially effective in conditions characterized by sharp temperature changes and high humidity.
Features and properties of greases
These funds have plasticity. This is the main difference between them and liquid lubricants. They are made on the basis of oils with the addition of thickeners, which can be used as polymers, clay, carbon salts.
- Greases have a different color. They are transparent, black, light brown.
- Many of these products provide corrosion protection to workpieces.
- Differ in the absence of smell.
- Do not change their density with temperature.
- Such greases do not leak, which makes their use convenient.
- The minimum period of work varies from 2 to 4 weeks. Then the tool must be replaced.
Greases: types
Today, there are a huge variety of greases. Let's talk about the main ones.

- Sodium. Often with the addition of calcium. Another name is constalins. They are advisable to apply in conditions with temperatures from 70 to 110 degrees. The disadvantage is the fact that they are afraid of water and may dissolve in it.
- Lithium They are made on the basis of lithium. They are particularly effective in conditions where strong vibration is observed at high loads. Great for extended use.
- Aluminum. Made on the basis of aluminum. Resistant to moisture, prevent oxidation of metals, thereby increasing conductivity. Often used in conditions characterized by elevated temperatures.
- Polyurethane Powder based. They are prone to biodegradation. Do not have any harmful effects on the environment and the human body.
- Teflon. They are distinguished by good heat resistance, they can withstand temperatures up to 250 degrees. On the workpieces left a kind of film with electrical insulating and water-repellent properties.
- Polyglycol. Their use allows you to extend the life of the mechanisms. Especially often used in conditions with high temperatures.
- Silicone Protect from corrosion. Form a film with water-repellent properties. Improve sliding, thereby preventing friction of parts. Do not wash off with water.
In addition to these main types, there are many others: pastes, greases based on thickeners (both organic and inorganic), etc.
Product Areas
Greases have a fairly wide area of use. So, for example, silicone is used for refrigerators. They have food admission. Such lubricants are common in everyday life. They process the paintwork of the car body, lubricate the locks and door hinges.
Konstalin is used for all types of gears - shafts and rollers. In addition, they are a good solvent for varnishes.
Lithium grease is often used for exposed equipment. It is great for plain bearings and roller bearings.
As you can see, greases have a whole range of useful properties that protect mechanical parts during production.
