The lyrical work “Small Forest. The steppe was given ”, adored by many representatives of the new peasant poetry and lyricist S. A. Yesenin, once again shows the unusually reverent love of this real Russian poet for his homeland. In his poetic work, it was she who became the most beloved and popular motive. In his works, Yesenin often asked him, putting in the center the image of a wanderer who, after long wanderings and trials, returned to his native land, where, as it seemed to him, even nature trembled and rejoiced at his appearance. The theme of the road has become traditional and very common for many Russian classics, such as A. Blok, A. Pushkin, N. Nekrasov and others.

So, in the description of the plot of the verse we see a very nondescript and unpretentious landscape. The soul and heart of the hero are worried, Yesenin represents himself in him. At this moment, he is torn from overwhelming emotions and rejoices, like those in the ringing sobbing “draft bells” “along the unsightly and beloved forever road”, on which every Russian has traveled many times.
Landscape in the work “Small Forest. Steppe and Dali ”was specially animated by the author. Such a terrain in the Russian middle zone is ordinary and unremarkable, but here it is depicted in harmony with the soul of an ordinary Russian peasant.
Yesenin never lost his feelings for a small homeland and connection with his roots. He himself said that his father was a peasant, and therefore he was a peasant son. In the verse “Small forest. Steppe and Dali ”, he compares nature with his own person, expresses feelings of gratitude and appreciation in his lines. The poet is sure that if anyone ever sees this edge, he will be happy to kiss each leg of the birch.
According to him, fame is nothing in front of this "stubby terrain", which causes touching feelings of appreciation. Yesenin remembers her from early childhood, this land nurtured him with its beauties and prosperity, delightful crimson sunsets and sunrises, fragrant herbs and impenetrable fords.

From the mere thought that his hero is returning to his homeland, the poet is covered by a wave of sounds of harmony and tunes of the ditties. In this rhythm, by the way, the verse was written. A 4-foot trochee, characteristic of folk ditties, was used.
It should be noted that Yesenin is "Small Forest. Steppe and Dali ”wrote one of the last. Here, to some extent, he laid bare his dying foreboding, which was almost always present in all his lyrics. In the last column, it is not in vain that the cabal revelry, accordion, is mentioned, and tragic death, which has become commonplace for Russian people, follows in the footsteps. Yesenin and the motherland
The poet left his native village Konstantinovka early enough, because he went to conquer the capital, not even knowing what was waiting for him there, and what a great longing for his native land would torment him all his life. A merry and dissolute Moscow will very quickly bore a Russian poet. Of course, he understood that it was not possible to break through his talent in the village. But having achieved great success in the poetic field, Yesenin did not get rid of his peasant roots, so he will devote almost every line of his creations to nature, which will become for him an inexhaustible source of poetic inspiration.
Yesenin "Small forest. The steppe and gave ”wrote in October 1925, it was then that the poet decided to briefly drop into his native village outback - the village of Konstantinovka. His first impressions of this trip became unforgettably exciting. He was surprised at the changes that had occurred all the time while he was gone. Initially inspired by revolutionary ideas, he quickly became disappointed, and now only nature, that cozy corner of his childhood, nevertheless welcomed him kindly and kindly in his native ways, ready to console and calm conflicting thoughts and feelings, to pacify pride and vanity. It is here that he is again the same cheerful mischievous little boy, and not a foreign dandy in an English suit disappointed with his life.
Inevitability
In the poem "Small Forest. Steppe and distance ”the poet is tired of the constant worldly fuss. After all, all that he wanted, Yesenin had already achieved, but did not understand why he lived, and what was the meaning of his life.
With the last sentence of the poem, “not one dashing glory disappeared with tryn grass”, he sincerely admits that he is ready to abandon his achievements for the sake of his former joyful, humble and serene life, but, as a person already wise by experience, he understands that the way back is already for him no, like his quiet, calm old age in his native land.
