Local football historians in Novorossiysk unearthed the roots of the current "Black Sea". It turned out that they date back to the pre-revolutionary Olimpia, which makes the Novorossiysk club one of the oldest football clubs in Russia.
From Olympia to Chernomorets
Despite the antiquity, the Novorossiysk team almost always remained in the shadow of the “metropolitan” Krasnodar (Yekaterinodar). And it was virtually impossible for a team not from the regional center to break into the elite of Soviet football. The best teams of the Union republics (actually national teams) and Muscovites played in the major league. Teams from Russia, but not from Moscow, could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Not always there was a place and the Krasnodar “Kuban”, but here some Novorossiysk. And almost everywhere such a vertical line was built that cities in the regions worked for the regional center. The de facto Novorossiysk team was the Kuban farm club, which in the first union league was not always the leader.
The names of the team in Novorossiysk often changed: for the sake of enterprises and organizations appointed to oversee the main football squad of the city. Therefore, there were Dynamo, and the Builder, and Labor. The results of the performances were as provincial as the city of Novorossiysk itself, which naturally led to a temporary loss of the status of the team of craftsmen. Only by the end of the 80s. under the attention-grabbing name “Cement”, the “cemented” team became the leader of the South Russian and Russian-Caucasian zone of the second league of the USSR championship.
In the new time with a new name
In 1988, “Cement” made the Russian “double” - became the champion and winner of the RSFSR Cup. In these tournaments, only teams of the second league from Russia played, but nevertheless ... “Cement” began to “hang around” the threshold of the first league, but something was missing all the time. And then they finally left, having already visited “Hecris” (in honor of the sponsor). Well, the truth is, the USSR has already ended. The Novorossiysk team entered the Russian championship “Chernomorets”. Apparently, firstly, because the Odessa brand went to Ukraine and freed up a place in the minds of Russian football fans, and, secondly, Novorossiysk with the loss of Crimea became the actual capital of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Since then, by the way, the emblem of the club has been emblazoned with the naval flag of Russia - Andreevsky (beveled blue cross on a white panel).
In 1995, he managed to get out and the big league, bypassing the “Kuban” forever hanging over the top. In the elite, Chernomorets was not a leader, but most of his time was more of an average than an outsider. Once, thanks to the high coefficient of Russia, the sixth-place team even managed to play in the UEFA Cup. The team and two cups won. True, none of the serious teams were serious about the Premier League Cup (2003), and the PFL Cup (2010) was played in Moscow on an artificial turf indoors, the winners of the second division zones.

However, times are changing. To date, the football club "Chernomorets" (Novorossiysk) is back to square one. Fifth place in the South zone of the second division last season is no reason for pride. The hope remains that the administrative-coaching staff is largely composed of people who personally played in the best times of the club. Maybe they know a secret, how to return everything?
The composition of the football club "Chernomorets" (Novorossiysk) in the season 2017/2018
According to the regulations of the Russian championship in football, the teams of the second division should not have players with foreign citizenship, which Chernomorets strictly follows. All the "Black Sea" - the Russians.
