This word came from the French language and in the original sounds like abonnement (abonner - sign). From the point of view of legal and monetary obligations, this is a document according to which one of the parties has the right to use certain services, property, or to demand their observance or provision. How to get them
As already mentioned, such documents for the provision of services can be paid and free. But why were they introduced at all, if you can pay in the same pool or theater on the spot?

Money can be forgotten or it is generally inconvenient to take money with you, and by purchasing a subscription, the user immediately (usually within a month or a week) gets the right to use the organization’s services without restriction.
Another reason is the benefit. Usually, having bought a subscription, a person significantly saves, since the cost of using the service for a month or another period is much more profitable than the fee for each visit. Simply put, you can go to the theater or fitness club an unlimited number of times during the term.
How do they lose
Since this is a kind of legal contract, the rules are usually spelled out, in some cases of which the subscription can be canceled even without a refund. This usually happens with property damage, indecent behavior or an attempt to transfer it to a third party.
