Victory Memorial Park is located in the city of Cheboksary on the banks of the Volga. He talks about the military glory of the country, starting with the Great Patriotic War. The park is located at the highest point of the city, so it offers a magnificent panorama of the river and the bay, as well as the old part of the city, which makes it the best observation deck of Cheboksary. Park history
The history of the Victory Memorial Park is about 40 years old. The first object that appeared here in 1980 is the Monument of Military Glory. After that, the park acquired various monuments, alleys and other interesting exhibits. In 2003, the memorial park was combined with the Palace of Culture. P.P. Khuzangaya, thereby making a single memorial complex of Victory Park.

Monument of Military Glory
The main place in the park rightfully belongs to the Monument of Military Glory, which appeared here in 1980. This is a bronze sculpture depicting two figures: a mother woman who carries the banner with one hand and the other shows the direction the enemy came to us from, as well as the soldier who kneeled before her and holds a weapon. The height of the monument is 16 meters. The monument rises high above the park, so it can be seen from many parts of Cheboksary. The creators of the monument were famous Soviet architects A.D. Shcherbakov and G.A. Zakharov.

The sculpture is mounted on top of a hill, at the base of which the Eternal Flame never fades, and fresh flowers and wreaths are constantly lying. It was this sculpture that gave rise to the memorial complex of Victory Park. From the hill stretches the Alley of memory - two columns of magnificent spruces. In front of them are commemorative stones on which the names of those who died on the fronts of World War II are carved. The beginning of the alley was laid by a native of Chuvashia, the famous astronaut No. 3 A.G. Nikolaev.
Monuments to heroes
Each year, the Victory Memorial Park expanded and acquired new objects. For example, in 1996, a monument was erected in the park to soldiers who did not return from the war in Chechnya. In 1999, the chapel of St. John the Warrior was opened. This is a very beautiful white building with one dome, which organically fits into the architecture of the park. In 2002, a monument was unveiled to people who liquidated the consequences of the Chernobyl accident. In 2004, a monument was erected to soldiers who had given their lives for peace in Afghanistan. In 2005, in honor of the anniversary of the Victory, a fountain and the Alley of Heroes were opened. In 2013, construction began on a monument to the Chuvash sailors.

In addition, the park includes the Museum of military equipment, where you can see various weapons, tanks, guns and aircraft used in battles. In front of each exhibit is a plate from which you can learn a lot about the history and characteristics of military vehicles. One of the main exhibits of the museum is a self-propelled artillery mount. Children love to play and climb cars here. Also very often exhibit stands dedicated to various memorable days.
In addition to the monuments, the Victory Memorial Park boasts a magnificent spruce alley, an apple alley, broken in 2012 and having 44 apple trees, a large fountain, beautiful flower beds and benches, and, besides, fresh air and wind from the Volga, which makes the park a wonderful place for have a good time.

Annually, on May 9, Victory Memorial Park becomes the center of celebration of victory in the fight against fascist invaders. Every year on May 8, the All-Russian action "Candle of Remembrance", which gathers hundreds of adults and children, is held at the Eternal Flame. And on May 9, a ceremony of laying flowers at the Monument of Military Glory takes place. Usually on the site in front of the Palace of Culture. P.P. Khuzangaya, which is located next to the park, hosts a gala concert dedicated to this great day.
The park is popular among urban residents throughout the year: in the summer it is very cool to lie on the grass and cool off in the shade of fir trees, and in winter you can ride from the mountain. Parents love to come to the park with their children in order to breathe fresh air, because the park is far from the highway. From the park you can go down the stairs to the Volga embankment and continue the walk.
