Russian sport has always been famous for outstanding personalities, which the whole world knew about. Boxing was not an exception, in which today one can name several bright fighters who have won recognition and fame. One of the current champions that contributed to the popularization of sports in Russia is Fedor Chudinov. This article will discuss this outstanding athlete.
Beginning of life
The current leader in the weight category of 76.2 kg was born in Bratsk, Irkutsk region. He issued his first cry on September 15, 1987. Fedor Chudinov is not the only child with his parents. He also has an older brother Dmitry.
Amator achievements
The advent of amateur boxing was not unusual for the Chudinov brothers. At the age of 10 years, an older brother enrolled in the section, and after two years, Fedor began to devote his time to martial arts. In total for the entire period spent in the ring as an amateur, Fedor Chudinov had 93 fights, in 74 of which he won. During this period, he repeatedly won many tournaments and competitions. Thanks to boxing, the guy was able to become a local celebrity.
Going to the pros
Radical changes in the lives of fellow athletes occurred when Dima was offered to box as a professional in the United States. Such a tempting offer was handed over by Eduard Gumashyan. It goes without saying that Dmitry did not disregard his younger brother, and together they happily went abroad.
Debut on American soil for Fedor was more than successful. On July 10, 2009, he went out to box against Sean Kirk and knocked him out in the first seconds of the fight. In total, Fedor Chudinov held four matchmakers in the United States, and all of them were triumphant for him.
Unfortunately, in 2010, the fighter had a conflict with the promoter, as a result of which the boxer was forced to suspend his career and return to Russia.
Interim title
After a series of successful battles, Fedor got the right to fight for the title of interim world champion according to the WBA. December 11, 2014 Chudinov fought with the Australian Ben McCullough. To the great joy of the Russian fans, their compatriot was able to knock out his opponent in the second three-minute period.
Best on the planet
On Victory Day - May 9, 2015 - Fedor was able to do what no one expected of him: in Germany, he won the WBA belt! And the legendary German Felix Sturm opposed him . The victory was not easy, but still the judges gave preference to the Russian. The rematch is scheduled for February 20, 2016. While the athletes are preparing for the upcoming match, the organization’s leadership decided to raise Chudinov and assigned him the status of the so-called “super champion”, which became possible after the American Andre Ward announced his transition to the category higher. Thus, the upcoming battle will already have a higher rank.
The first defense of the title of Chudinov was against Briton Frank Bouillon. The result of the battle was a judicial decision in favor of the Russian. It happened on September 26, 2015.
Negotiations with Abraham
Boxer Fyodor Chudinov said that, despite preparing for a pre-arranged meeting with Sturm, his team is already in talks with another world champion - Arthur Abraham. It is planned that this fight should become unifying (there will be two belts at stake - WBA and WBO). According to the Russian fighter, such a fight was originally conceived as a battle between two Germans, but taking into account the outcome of the first Sturm-Chudinov fight, the organization decided to hold a rematch first, and after that a meeting of the champions.
Training Nuances
Fedor Chudinov, whose biography can show what a native of a simple family is capable of, together with his coach developed a special communication system. So, for example, the phrase “hit with the right” does not mean at all that Fedya will strike with this particular hand. Such secrecy can significantly complicate the life of the opponents of the Russian in the ring.
Relation to religion
Despite the fact that Fyodor Chudinov’s fights are full of entertainment and knockouts, the fighter himself believes that everyone should believe in God and “not turn into a monkey,” but at the same time not become a religious fanatic, since no one needs extremes.
Here he is, Fedor. We wish him success and we will wait for new bright fights in which he will continue to glorify the school of Russian boxing and delight his fans.
