Dmitry Safronov, originally from the city of Dzerzhinsk, celebrates his birthday on October 12, 1995, born. Currently living and studying in Nizhny Novgorod. Honored Master of Sports, representative of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, member of the Russian national athletics team for persons with musculoskeletal system lesions (PODA). In the sprint distances of 100, 200 and 400 m (class T35), he is the current two-time world record holder, four-time world champion.
Achievements
The entire Russian Paralympic team was suspended from participation in the Rio 2016 games, despite the athletes trying to reach the International Paralympic Committee. Although for some time there were reports that some athletes, including Dmitry, would be able to go, but this information was not confirmed. Therefore, an alternative Paralympics was held in the suburbs.
In 2016, open (alternative) Russian athletics competitions were held at the Krugloye Lake and Novogorsk sports bases near Moscow. In the sprint (class T35), Dmitry Safronov set two world records:
- he ran 200 meters in 23.15 seconds. (the previous world record also belonged to him at the competitions in Leon-2013 and amounted to 24.69 sec.);
- The 100-meter Paralympic also ran best in record 11.77 seconds.
FODA
The Federation of Sports of Persons with Disorders of the Musculoskeletal System (FPODA) is a relatively young sports organization. Paralympic sport, unfortunately, is not in demand among people with disabilities. Even simple physical education more often avoided, despite their enormous benefits. If it were not for the cheerful, and even slightly reckless disposition of the Paralympic Dmitry Safronov, he would also quickly give up training.
He refers to those people who no longer deviate from the intended, once realizing that they can achieve more. In sports, as practice shows, the most important thing is not even physical data, but the strength of mind and the desire to defeat yourself first of all, your weakness and laziness. It is such strong-willed people who climb the pedestal.
Seeing how those whom some โcouch criticsโ contemptuously call people with disabilities can overcome their physical imperfection, involuntarily it becomes embarrassing to stay at home instead of also starting to engage in physical education. The culture of sports should always be outside of politics and outside the prejudices of society that prevent such diverse, but in something very similar people from maintaining a healthy spirit of competition.
Biography
The first coach of Dmitry for a long time was Galina Kosheleva, Honored Trainer of Russia with a total experience of more than 20 years. When she first saw Dima, Galina Nikolaevna immediately realized that his data for athletics in short distances were just perfect. A trainer with a trained eye immediately noted in it a good potential in terms of the ratio of growth, length of legs and arms. Until the age of 16, he played football in a team for children with disorders of the musculoskeletal system, but as shown by medical research and Dimaโs personal well-being, football was too difficult for him.
Athletics only by name is such, in fact, titanically heavy that Dmitry Safronov could immediately feel on himself. Despite the good data, in any sport, most of the success depends on the person himself: how purposeful and hardworking he is. Serious loads can push away even a completely healthy person, which is a sin to hide.
Now they, together with coach A. Koshelev, are preparing to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, they have every chance to confirm officially the Olympic status of the world champion in 100 and 200 meters. We will believe and hope that he will succeed!
