The plant is located in the city of Dyatkovo in the northern part of the Bryansk region. It is separated from the capital by 376 km. It is easily accessible by car or train. Today DHS is going through hard times. The old production was declared bankrupt, a new one was created on its basis - LLC Dyatkovsky Crystal Plant Plus. Updated products are sold under the brand name "Maltsov", named after the dynasty of the founders of the enterprise.

Pre-revolutionary period

In 1790, a representative of the noble family Maltzova Maria bought a piece of land and founded glass production on it. For many years, the company’s trademark was colored glass and crystal products decorated with patterns with fine, well-crafted edges.

In 1847, the Dyatkovo Crystal Plant was transferred to Sergei Maltzov. With entrepreneurial grasp, he created a glass empire - the largest industrial cluster in Russia. A fan of the utopian ideas of Robert Owen tried to create comfortable conditions for workers, including serfs. Schools, hospitals, bakeries and sewing workshops were opened.

In 1849, the company had 606 employees. There were 3 furnaces functioning, which made it possible to produce 1.697.000 crystal products annually. Dishes were painted in art workshops (up to 47,000 items annually). Products were shipped to the largest cities of that time: Moscow, Odessa, Warsaw, Petersburg, Kiev, Riga and others.

Later, production was radically modernized: the latest equipment was brought from abroad, and craftsmen from other countries were invited to work. In 1877, the first Russian private railway was put into operation, which connected all the factories of the industrial district of S. Maltsov. Later appeared his own mail and telegraph.

At the end of the 19th century, DKhZ became the center of the emergence of the national style in the field of art glass. A unique glassblower school has been formed at the plant. The works created according to the sketches of the artist Elizabeth Boehm are especially appreciated.

Soviet time

The new government carefully treated the royal heritage - the plant continued to work. In the USSR, the products of the Dyatkovo Crystal Plant under the brand name “Crystal from Dyatkovo” were widely known domestically and abroad. The new artist was inspired by the national artist Shuvalov. His works, created in the early 50s of the 20th century, are the coveted objects of collectors, exhibited at major auctions in the world. Until now, the sketches of Evgraf Sergeevich are used in the manufacture of crystal vases, services and other interior items.

Achievements of the team have been repeatedly encouraged by the state. July 23, 1966 DKhZ was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. In the 60-70s, the production lines were significantly updated. In 1972, a branch of the factory was built where conveyor production of dishes was applied. In the 80s, an advanced technology was mastered - fire watering of crystal, when its faces are slightly fused after cutting the patterns, resulting in an impeccable mirror shine.

New time

After the collapse of the USSR, the enterprise constantly experienced sales difficulties. The fashion for crystal has passed, which radically reduced the company's revenue. Old production was declared bankrupt. Photo Dyatkovo crystal plant with empty workshops is not optimistic. In 2012, with the advent of new shareholders, an attempt was made to reorganize production. Today the brand "Maltsov" is positioned as a premium. A network of boutiques has been created in which customers are offered highly artistic quality crystal products. Do not forget the mass segment of dishes.

Magic of light

From the earliest times, crystal was the measure of wealth and the personification of luxury. Its manufacture and processing are a rather complicated technological process. To make ordinary glass transparent and durable, please with noble tints of light and a melodious ringing, lead oxide is added to it during melting.

Dyatkovo Crystal Plant manufactures products in which lead oxide contains up to 24%. Each of the creations of glassblowers is a work of art created by hand.

Production technology

The production of crystal products begins with the preparation of raw mixes. All components are thoroughly dried, sieved and crushed to fine fractions. Then the raw materials are sent for dosage - this is the most important stage. You must accurately select the percentage of each component for glass melting. Further, in the mixers, the inhomogeneous mass turns into a charge.

The composition of the charge includes 7-10 components. Mandatory substances are:

  • nitrate (potassium nitrate) is used as an oxidizing agent;
  • minium (lead oxide) brightens the molten glass and gives the necessary optical properties;
  • potash (potassium carbonate) improves the quality of the glass;
  • quartz sand is the most important component of the mixture.

The Dyatkovo Crystal Plant keeps the exact composition of the charge and the percentage of raw materials a secret. After the mixers, the finished mixture enters the furnace. The process of glass melting takes place around the clock. From the molten mass of glassblowers, crystal products are blown.
