As you know, integrity is a set of human qualities, following a set of rules and beliefs formed in the process of life and the accumulation of experience. Based on this, an unprincipled person is a person who neglects the norms, rules and beliefs established in society. And most importantly - not having its own beliefs.
Definition
Unprincipledness is the principle of "the opposite." This feature, depending on how to apply it, can turn out to be both positive and negative. A person with this quality is distinguished by petty tricks, a tendency to neglect other people's opinions. One can only assume what “unprincipled man” means in real life with its unpredictability, as well as charm, spontaneity and paradox.
From the positive in unscrupulousness, which is contempt for the views of others, beliefs, the desire to live for oneself, one can name the ease of communication. But until then, until it rereads the interests of this person. "Unprincipled person", which means deprived of all sorts of restrictions, acting with maximum confidence and flexibility, knows how to adapt to any situation.
But these advantages lead to a violation of the freedoms of those around them. A person can behave in a dishonest manner, not take responsibility for his words, often change his mind, speak in opposition to actions. An unpleasant surprise is its unpredictability.
The expression "unprincipled man" literally means the following:
- neglecting moral standards without principles;
- denying morality by his behavior;
- unscrupulous;
- devoid of clear views;
- adventurer.
He is spineless, weak-willed, weak-hearted, adaptive, without rules. Who is an unprincipled person? A conformist, dependent on the opinions of others, unable to defend his point of view, and sometimes even think independently.
Positive aspects of unscrupulousness
Unscrupulousness coexists with the dynamism of human nature. And if life imposes restrictions, destroying resourcefulness and mobility in a person, then unscrupulousness eliminates routine. A man without principles is immediate and fresh, ready for new experiences. While an ordinary person is restrained by self-doubt, timidity, fear of punishment, inconvenience in clothes, some kind of memories. Being thorough, it is easier to perform one or another action, referring to the rule and not thinking about the consequences of their behavior.
An unprincipled man with the naturalness of a savage surrenders to the most powerful impulses. As a consequence, he receives the nickname "villain," while it would be fairer to assign him the title of "sincere man." Ignoring society with its norms, it makes us think about the essence of things, thereby providing an enlightening mission. And in this one can see a certain charm of unprincipledness.
The advantages of integrity are known:
- it is understood that a person is morally stable and strong in spirit, independent of circumstances;
- has unshakable self-confidence;
- you can always count on the reliability of a person who will not fail and will not bend under the situation;
- integrity is associated with decency, therefore, as a rule, such a person is respected.
The art of flexibility
Flexibility is also considered a positive quality: a person feels confident in unforeseen circumstances, knows how to find optimal solutions and approach to people around him. He can be criticized for the lack of straightforwardness, but for success there is no need for everyone to tell the truth, provoking appropriate reactions. It is more important to consider the characteristics of the people with whom you have to talk, and make wise decisions that would suit everyone. And the direct path is not always the shortest and best.
Flexibility, fluidity of perception - this is a prerequisite for some professions. This is a talent that can be used both for the good and to the detriment. A flexible person is not always unprincipled. On the contrary, he is positive, intelligent, educated. Communication with him is pleasant, he is conflict-free in the family and at work, defends his opinion so that others are not offended, he will never allow a quarrel and scandal.
But to be flexible is not very simple: you need to calculate the reaction of people, to have a quick mind. Therefore, the majority prefers to be straightforward.
Negative manifestations of integrity
Negative properties of principle:
- a person becomes a slave to his principles, not taking into account the development of the situation that has formed;
- dishonorable behavior is permissible for such a person, which can bring a lot of trouble to relatives;
- obsession and intolerance with respect to others is manifested, because the person's ideas about the norm are closely related to his principles;
- there are limitations that self-interested people can take advantage of;
- adherence to principles with unwillingness to think;
- uncompromising is possible, so communicating with such people can be difficult.
Considering the listed pros and cons of principle, having this quality or completely abandoning it, you should reflect on the consequences of your behavior. The best would be a combination of principles with the ability to reject them, the ability to compromise. Principles are laudable, but feelings are equally important. An honest flexible person adapts to the situation without changing his beliefs.
Conformism
One can infinitely consider how a characterless person, nihilist, conformist behaves, and also does not value himself, does not respect personal experience and his truth. An unprincipled religious leader will sacrifice the commandments, but not his income, the politician will change the party if his position ceases to be beneficial to him, and so on.
A well-known example is when, in order to study such a personality quality as conformism, volunteers were invited to the experiment. There was a simple test: to distinguish alcohol from water, noting what is needed in the survey form. The catch was only that some of the answers were allegedly put down by previous participants in the experiment (but in fact they were prepared by the researchers).

And so, the participant clearly senses the aroma of alcohol, but seeing a large number of pluses opposite the meaning of “water” as an answer to the question, he suddenly is unable to indicate the correct option. After all, the main motto of unscrupulousness is "not to be stupid" At this moment, he either doubts his own adequacy, or is afraid to stand out against the bulk of the people, fearing responsibility for independent decision-making. In this example, you can clearly see how an unprincipled person behaves: this is a conformist in fact, following the crowd, convenience, security or what is closer to him at the moment.
It is known that conformism looks like an adaptation to the situation, taking into account the opinions and behavior of other people, their numbers, and authority. Sometimes they try to be "like everyone else", not stand out from the crowd. Sometimes they are guided by the opinion of only one person, but only a leader. And this is also a kind of flexibility in the worst case scenario. Moreover, a conformist is a kind of unprincipled person, because he acts not according to his own principles, but with an orientation to other people.
You can also recall the famous saying: "shave-shave or haircut-haircut?" Obviously, such a question involves the imposition and limitation of the answer to only two possible ones, since the “shaving-shaving” is the right pair. The conclusion suggests itself that an unprincipled person is also one whose thinking can be deprived not only of independence, but also of development.
Phrase Examples
"The soul languished from the insults of this unprincipled man."
"To be attractive to others does not mean to meet an unprincipled scoundrel who can turn his head."
"Noble people remember everything, prudent (unprincipled) do not forget anything."
Principle or unprincipled? The combination of their principles with the ability to abandon them in a timely manner is the best in which a person can manifest himself.
