The legendary (see dossier below) volleyball coach Vyacheslav Platonov always dreamed that the main Leningrad team, whatever it was called, had its own home. By 2005, the authority and relations of the coach allowed to build the Volleyball Academy from scratch.
Legend's dream
The building was built by the St. Petersburg construction company Eurostroy. True, not entirely disinterested. The company is building a residential complex on the territory belonging to the Avtomobilist volleyball club (formerly Spartak) .
House with all amenities
The Platonov Volleyball Academy has everything you need. A game room specialized in volleyball (height 14 meters), stands for 1,500 spectators. On the floor of the hall is a modern polymer coating. There are excellent acoustics, ventilation and lighting systems. The score of the game can be kept on the electronic scoreboard intended for volleyball.
Volleyball players have at their disposal a fully equipped rehabilitation center and gym.
There are excellent technical conditions for conducting theoretical classes. There is even a press center.
Some independence from urban utilities provides its own gas boiler room. Naturally, there are alarm systems in case of fire and offenses.
The Academy has Platonov and its own hotel, the Brigantine, there is a catering unit, which allows you to work in the building and cafe-bistro Arena.
It is worth noting that the building everywhere takes into account the fact that the main "population" here are tall people. Even beds in a hotel with a length of at least 2 m 30 cm.
By the way, the founder himself was able to appreciate all the amenities of the Academy during his life, working here with the St. Petersburg Spartak.
For study
Platonov Academy sees its main mission in the free training of talented young volleyball players as high-level volleyball skills. It accepts young men over 12 years of age who have the skills to play volleyball and have completed initial training. In order to enter the Academy, you need to pass a selection, which is carried out twice a year.
Petersburg registration for "academics" is not required. Along with Petersburgers, nonresident residents are also accepted. Accommodation at the Academy Hotel. Studying under the general educational program at the 55th school of St. Petersburg.
It is interesting that the Platonov Academy does not put its teams at the city competitions of young men and juniors, but the “academics” themselves have the right to play them for their “starting” volleyball sports schools.
The most talented students of the Platonov Academy have a chance to receive recommendations for admission to the famous sports university named after Lesgaft (St. Petersburg).
commercial activity
Excellent conditions for volleyball classes allow conducting full training camps for teams of all levels within the walls of the Platonov Academy (St. Petersburg). Because here they are regularly invited. Unlike young men, of course, not for free.
Sports arena
The Academy Hall serves not only for training, but also for official matches. St. Petersburg teams Dynamo LO (men, Super League), Spartak (men, Premier League B), Eurostroy (men, First League), Leningradka (women, Super League) and Ladoga-LO "(women, first league). Regional, city and corporate tournaments are held here.
To remember
Another Academy mission was born, sorry for the pun after the death of Vyacheslav Platonov. It is necessary to preserve the coaching heritage (and the students of the legendary mentor teach at the Academy) and not let his name be forgotten and how to give a real life to the real volleyball maestro.
