Spanish defender Juan Bernat

Juan Bernat is a Spanish footballer playing for Bayern Munich. He is only 23 years old, and at the moment he is considered a very promising player with a great future. Juan Bernat stands in the position of the left defender, although he can play higher and left in the midfield.

Carier start

Juan Bernat

Juan Bernat was born March 1, 1993 in Spain, where he began to play football. Already at the age of seven, he entered the football academy of one of the strongest clubs in Spain, โ€œValenciaโ€, which he represented for eleven years at the youth level in various age categories. In 2011, when the defender turned eighteen, he signed a professional contract with the club, but he could not immediately play at the base. He spent the first season in a double of the club, only occasionally calling in the main team. He appeared on the field only ten times, but from the next season, young talent began to increasingly approach the base. As a result, in 2013, he already had 25 matches and one goal in his account. Juan Bernat started the 13/14 season as the main player of Valencia, played 49 matches, scoring two goals. Naturally, this attracted the attention of scouts from all over Europe, but few thought that the young Spaniard would be able to make such a big leap. In the summer of 2014, Bayern Munich paid ten million euros for him, as the new coach Pep Guardiola wanted to use David Alaba in a different position. So Bernat moved to one of the strongest clubs in the world.

The game in Bavaria

In the Munich club, Juan Bernat, whose photos instantly scattered across all the world's leading sports publications, immediately got into the main squad: in the first season he played 47 matches, distinguishing himself with one goal. However, the inconstancy of Guardiola is known to all, and by 2015 he no longer had such strong feelings for young Spanish talent. Therefore, Bernat played almost two times fewer matches in the next season - only 27. Both times, Bayern won the German Championship, and in 2016 also won the German Cup. But in the summer of 2016, a change of coach took place in the club, and the new Munich leader Carlo Ancelotti Bernat did not seem to be a base player. Alaba, the strongest left-back of modernity, returned to the left flank, and Juan became his successor. This season, Juan Bernat, the footballer who predicted a great future at Bayern, has entered the field so far only six times, scoring one goal and giving up two assists.

Team appearances

Bernat still has not much experience in the Spanish national team. He was called up for the first time in October 2014, went out for twenty minutes in a match against the Luxembourg national team and immediately scored a goal. But so far this was the only goal that Juan scored for the national team. From that moment, he was called six more times. The reason for this is the insufficiently frequent performance at the base for Bayern. The last time Bernat was called up to the national team in September 2015, then he played the entire match against Macedonia. Rumor has it that the left-back may follow Josep Guardiola in Manchester City, and if he can appear more often on the field, then the likelihood that he will be called back to the national team will increase significantly.
