For a real hunter, a dangerous bear hunt is a unique event, and a hunted wild beast is an extraordinary pride. To participate in such a hunt requires special courage and caution at the same time, because the bear is a very dangerous opponent.
More recently, about ten years ago, a brown bear was considered a "harmful" animal, and hunting for it was allowed throughout the year. This led to a sharp reduction in the number of wild animals. Therefore, at present, bear hunting can be carried out only if there is a special permit issued by the hunting inspection and only in those areas where it is not prohibited.
Oats Night Hunt
The most common is the hunt for oats. Animals visit oat crops during its milky-wax ripeness, in the middle lane this usually happens in late August - early September. The most convenient is hunting for bears in small fields that are completely surrounded by forest, or in fields that have narrow stripes that protrude into the forest.
Two methods of such hunting are used: a hiding place is organized right in the field, or a storehouse is built for storage. It is important to skillfully build a storehouse, firmly strengthening the future observer's place on a tree no lower than three to five meters from the ground. Take care that the shelter is not striking, it is sufficiently disguised and, of course, convenient for the hunter. Reinforce one leg pole and the other from the back so that you can sit comfortably. It may take a long time to wait for the beast, and after a long uncomfortable sitting it is very difficult to make the right shot. It makes sense to more practical hunters to equip several storehouses, since it is impossible to predict the direction of the wind. In addition, it should be provided that the shelter is not visible from the side in the moonlight, and the beast did not notice the hunter against the sky. Depending on all this, a storehouse is chosen to wait for the bear. Approximately two hours before sunset, you need to sit in a hitch in the field or take refuge in a shed. Foreseeing where the beast will come from, you cannot cross its path. You can try to trick the bear in the following way: go to the storehouse together, and after one hunter climbs up, the second should go away. Perhaps the cunning beast will believe that people are gone. Ventilate your clothes in advance and discard cigarettes this evening. Usually a bear appears unexpectedly, so at any second you need to be ready to shoot. When an animal is wounded in the morning, tracking with dogs is organized.
Russian bear hunting in the den
No less exciting is the truly Russian den bear hunt. Not always the beast settles down for the winter in remote places. Now, when lumberjacks are actively working in forests everywhere, often a bear makes a lair near roads, deforestation and villages. It is better to hunt in January, February, when, according to the hunters, "the bear will be covered." The bear is driven out of the den with the help of etched dogs.
Hunters occupy convenient places at a distance of eight to twelve meters from the den. If the dogs fail to scare the beast, or the hunt is carried out without them, one of the hunters raises the bear, inserting a long pole or Christmas tree with half-chopped branches into the den. This is very dangerous, as the beast can quickly jump out. It is possible that the bear’s bed is not exactly determined, then a raid will be organized. The beaters carefully comb the thickets, rubble of the windbreak and other places, shouting and tapping sticks on the trees. Dogs are taken to help.
Any bear hunt is very exciting and dangerous. Do not forget that the beast is very aggressive and strong, especially wounded. Therefore, caution never hurts. Have a good hunting!
