Boxer childhood and first training
Vyacheslav Uzelkov was born on April 8, 1978 in the Ukrainian city of Vinnitsa. He started boxing in 1987. Vyacheslav became interested in this sport after seeing the competition on television. Father brought to Uzelkov’s first training session. And the coach literally immediately noticed the guy’s talent for boxing. The first coach of Vyacheslav is Dmitry Shamas, then he worked under the leadership of Anatoly Valchuk and Igor Musienko. Now he is training with Vadim Lavrints and Vitaly Vdovkin.
Amateur ring
In the amateur ring Uzelkov Vyacheslav, whose biography is described in this article, was marked by very serious achievements. This is a victory at the European Junior Championships in Birmingham (1997), second place in Beijing at the World Cup (1998). Also in his standings is third place in Zagreb at the World Military Games (1999). In 2001, Uzelkov took third place in the World Championships, which took place in Belfast and second in the tournament in Helsinki.
In 2002, he took the silver medal of the European Championship, held in Perm. And in 2003, Vyacheslav was third in the Strandzha tournament, which was held in Bulgaria, also this year he took second place in the Ukrainian city of Sudak on the Black Sea Cup.
Professional ring debut
The first fight in the professional ring Uzelkov Vyacheslav held on October 24, 2004 against another newcomer - Suleiman Dzherilov. Then he won seven consecutive victories over various levels of rivals.
On March 7, 2006 in Kiev, he defeated the Croatian boxer Yosil Yalusic. The next battle took place a month later - on the eighth of April. That day, Uzelkov met in the ring with Vasily Adrianov and defeated him in six rounds on points.
Just as confidently on points, he “made out” the following two Belarusian boxers - Artem Solomko and Sergey Karanevich. Then he knocked out in the first round of the Russian debutant of professional boxing Anton Krasnolutsky.
Title
On February 27, 2007, Uzelkov Vyacheslav got the first professional title according to EBU-EE - European Champion. He won this title in a fight against Russian Artem Vychkin. Nobody expected anything special from the latter, but he turned out to be so passive in the ring that he surprised the audience with his behavior. He retreated and defended the whole battle and only a couple of times tried to strike himself. In the seventh round, the judge awarded Uzelkov a victory by technical knockout.
On September 13, 2007, Vyacheslav was able to win the Intercontinental light heavyweight title (according to WBA). He boxed against the Spanish athlete Gabriel Campilo, who at that time had not suffered a single defeat. But here he was not lucky, the Ukrainian boxer sent him to a knockout.
Title defense
The Ukrainian successfully held his first defense, it happened at the beginning of 2008. Uzelkov defeated the Argentine boxer Julio Cesar Dominguez. The second time he defended his title that same year, entering the ring on June 14 against Slovenian athlete Denis Simcic. The fight ended with a technical knockout - the opponent’s coach threw a white towel into the ring.
Further career
In 2009, the boxer Vyacheslav Uzelkov took part in the show "Dancing for you." A couple of him was Ksenia Gorb. As for his sports career, this year he spent four more defenses of his Intercontinental champion title and became a contender for the honorary title of world champion (WBA version).
The fight for the world title was held on June 23rd, 2010. Uzelkov entered the ring against Beibut Shumenov. The fight lasted twelve rounds, the athletes did not want to concede and fought desperately. In the end, the judges gave points to the opponent Vyacheslav. The Ukrainian won his next three fights by knocking out rivals.
In February 2012, Vyacheslav met with German boxer Eduard Gutknecht. The fight was held for the title of European champion according to EBU. Here, the Ukrainian was unlucky again, he was knocked out in the twelfth round. And on the twenty-first of July of the same year, Uzelkov was able to take the title of Intercontinental champion according to the WBO.
On March 16, 2013, Vyacheslav was unable to defend his title in a fight against the French athlete Dudu Engumbu. And on September 21, he defeated the Hungarian Atilla Palko, knocking him out in the first round.
Vyacheslav Uzelkov, whose biography is rich in interesting fights, on November 9, 2013 won the honorary title of International Light Heavyweight Champion according to IBO. He met in the ring with the American athlete Jadon Codrington.
In January 2014, Uzelkova was invited, together with Igor Kondratyuk, Hector Jimenez Bravo and Slava Frolova, to become a judge on the popular show "Ukraine's Talent".
And in the spring of the same year, Vyacheslav became a trainer for the filming of the fourth season of the STB "Zvazhenі i shchaslivі" show. There he competed with Igor Obukhovsky and Anita Lutsenko.
