Is there such a person in the world who loves notations? Probably there are none. Our plans, of course, do not include reading morality. We will talk about edification. This noun interests us today. In the context of the topic, one still has to discuss issues of education.
Value
But upbringing will wait, and we will start with value. The explanatory dictionary is indispensable here. Edification is “instruction, instruction.” In general, advising is the last thing. Because the adviser can be extreme. But there are professions and social roles that favor reading morality. And live in the world, respectively, people who like passion like to instruct someone on the true path.
True, sometimes irony is inappropriate here. For example, a child does something bad, what to do if you do without instructions and edifications? This is a question. When a child is small, the only thing that remains is directive education, but then it’s better to still speak with the child and explain why this or that is bad.
Edification as an element of education
First, let's take the story aside. When it comes to the expression “for edification of posterity,” the dictionary indicates that phraseological unit is obsolete and ironic. But remember the movie Braveheart (1995)? There, William Wallace was executed precisely as a warning to everyone else who would dare to continue to rebel against England. Now imagine that someone especially impressionable watched this film and learned a lesson: rebellion is bad! And since then, even when it is necessary to cast a vote, a person is silent. Therefore, not always a phrase can be understood jokingly.
And after all, grandchildren are also descendants. But let's imagine not such a fantastic situation that once the parents punished the child so that he remembered it and then told his children - that’s the edification (and this is not at all funny) for several generations.
Synonyms
Yes, the word is not common in everyday speech. And that might be a problem, but not for us. After all, we are always ready to provide the reader with a number of synonyms for “edification”:
- example;
- lesson;
- morality;
- notation;
- parting words.
Those words that are already given in the section on the meaning of the word, we did not repeat. The last three nouns in the list of synonyms are associated in consciousness with oral creativity. Whereas the “example” and “lesson” can be learned by observing someone else's wrong behavior.
Sentences with the word
In the section on upbringing and phraseologism, we forgot to say an important thing: in edification, the main thing is not words, but an example. We select the sentences so that the images become obvious.
- So you probably think that, they say, your father is in vain ruined, tells you about all sorts of horrors and oddities, trying to interpret some edification. And I may speak with you only because I do not want you to experience how it happens when you disobey instructions. Parents want only good for you.
- The best edification is an example. Those who are addicted to drugs should be given the opportunity to read Irwin Welch's prose, in particular, On the Needle, or the works of hipster William Burroughs, and, as if by magic, the romanticism of such an activity will be dispelled.
- When they say that you need to study well, it does not mean anything. But if schoolchildren could see their future life in two ways: graduating from a university or passing by a higher education, then this could serve as a warning. But, unfortunately, no one ever sees the future. And to know where we fall, we are not given.
Yes, the sample sentences came out great. But this is not so important. The main thing is that the main idea contained in them reaches everyone. And then their work can be considered completed. True, even when educators work and plan our souls, one cannot guarantee that everything invested will sprout. Indeed, much depends on the quality of the soil where the seed is thrown.
