Andre-Pierre Gignac was born in 1985, December 5, in the city of Martigues. His father is a Frenchman. Mother is of Algerian origin.
Andre, like any other football player, began to engage in this sport from childhood. Already at the age of five, he was a member of the Fos football school at the club of the same name. Then he transferred to the Martig Academy. He spent seven years there (in Fos, only five). And in 2002, he became part of the Lorient club. It was a whole new level, because a team from the Brittany region played in League 2.
At first, Andre-Pierre Gignac played for the youth squad, but then, in 2004, he entered into a professional contract and almost immediately entered the field at the base. His debut match was held against Chateauroux. And it was the most successful game. Before 10 seconds passed from the start of the match, Andre scored a goal against the opponents.
Career
In 2005, Andre-Pierre Gignac moved to the Po club from the city of the same name, which decided to rent a promising forward. The team played in the third division, so Andre easily spent 18 matches, for which he scored 8 goals, after which he returned to Lorient. With his help, the team entered the Premier League. And the next season, in League 1, Gignac Andre-Pierre spent 37 games, sending 9 goals to the opponents. By the way, three of them were scored in the first 27 minutes of the match against FC Nantes.
In 2007, the Algerian accepted the offer from Toulouse, which gave 4.5 million euros for the striker. Gignac was still interested in Lille. Moreover, Andre was already ready to go there, but representatives of Toulouse proposed more favorable conditions.
In the three seasons played in this team, the Algerian entered the field 97 times and sent 34 goals to the opponents' goal. True, his first season was not successful. Only two goals in 28 matches. But, most likely, such deplorable performance was observed due to the fact that Andre was not the main striker, but “helping” Johan Elmander.
Last years
From 2010 to 2015, Andre-Pierre Gignac, whose photo is provided above, played for the Marseille Olympic. By the way, shortly before that, he extended the contract with Toulouse. Although he was interested in such teams as Lyon, Milan, Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United. Apparently, the proposed "Olympic" 60,000 pounds a week played a role. And the transfer was not cheap - for the striker had to pay 19 million euros.
In five years, the Algerian played 158 matches and scored 60 goals. Although at some point there were rumors that Andre was planning to sell - the effectiveness was not what the representatives of the Marseille club wanted to see her. In the end, he was simply sent to the second team, because Gignac strongly conflicted with Didier Deschamps. The forward demanded more playing time on the field, and the head coach had a different opinion on this.
In general, until 2015 he was part of the Olympic, and now defends the colors of the Mexican WANL Tigres. And also - the French national team. The debut on the international scene at the striker took place in 2009. Since then, he has played 33 matches and scored 7 goals.
