Translation is one of those activities that cannot be underestimated. I interpret the meaning of information in one language and, creating its equivalent in another, making only a small mistake, you can easily lose the meaning of the text or completely change it. And because of this, there may be a misunderstanding of the transmitted information, which usually leads to undesirable consequences.
High-quality translation has always depended on the person implementing it. Trying to get a good translation of the text, without involving a human resource, many programs have been created that are ready to help you with interpretation or translation. But, unfortunately, it is no secret that the results of such transfers cannot yet be called qualitative.
Basic rules for quality translation
Since the purpose of the translation remains always unchanged - to get the same meaning of the two texes of the original and the translated, when translating, you need to be more careful about the basic rules of translation.
Vocabulary
In order to take translation into work, you must at least have a basic vocabulary, a set of the most used words and expressions, verb forms and terminology of the industry in which you will translate.
Grammar basics
Without knowledge of the grammar of the language, it is impossible to understand the meaning of the text, even if you know the translation of all words. Grammar, as it were, frames words, making them interconnected, to express a specific thought. Therefore, without knowledge of the basics of grammar, you should not start translating.
Translation Technique
Skills in the translation technique come with time, but for a quick and solid translation it is necessary. And it implies the possession of the following two skills: to accurately parse the belonging of words to certain parts of speech and the ability to work with a dictionary.
Difficulties in translating from a native language into a foreign language
For a novice translator, it will of course be easier to start with translations from a foreign language into your native language. For example, make translation of English into Russian much easier than the other way around. Indeed, in your native language it is easier to formulate a sentence and convey the meaning of the original text in those revolutions and structures that are used to from childhood. But to formulate a thought in a foreign language, even with a good knowledge base, for a start it will be difficult. You need to learn to think in the language you are translating into, but this only comes with practice.
Also, a lot of attention for beginning translators should be given to phraseological units and stable expressions that exist in all languages. And without knowledge of at least the most used of them, it is difficult to make a high-quality translation into a foreign language.
