Each of us, even from school, chooses (often subconsciously) the main sphere of our interests, which subsequently often becomes a profession.
Someone is occupied by the outside world, someone - the technique and laws of mechanics. One is fascinated by
artistic images, the other is communication with people and helping them.
Psychological diagnostics can help determine the inclinations
. It indicates the sphere in which a person can be as successful as possible. For example, if testing showed that you like the field of knowledge "man is a sign system," then you have a direct path to linguists, mathematicians, or programmers. Modern sciences that study the language are constantly evolving. Between them, interaction is continuously strengthening, and in addition, they are taking advantage of the achievements of other areas of human knowledge. How promising is this? Does the role of a philologist boil down to just sitting in libraries?
Classical philology or hermeneutics?
Nowadays, the science of language learning is becoming more and more fascinating. Indeed, speech is one of the most significant manifestations of human consciousness. The whole culture is somehow connected with it. But if earlier the sciences that studied the language focused mainly on classical philology (that is, ancient Greek, Latin and the texts written on them), now the boundaries of even this discipline are expanding. Interpretation, understanding by people of each other, as well as written speech - this is what becomes the subject of hermeneutics. She is studying not only ancient texts, but the interpretation process as a whole. Other disciplines that are associated with various aspects of understanding speech include psychology, programming, logic, culturology ...
Linguistics in the modern world
This area of knowledge combines practically all sciences that study language directly. She considers it comprehensively, and in various aspects, or "layers."
For example, the sound side deals with such subsections as phonetics, orthoepy,
stage speech, phonosemantics. Psycholinguistics studies the relationship of human psychology with language. Textology - the functioning of holistic written statements (texts). Poetics, which used to be part of classical philology, deals with the artistic word. A science that studies all the languages of the world in a comprehensive way - linguistics - is constantly evolving. New disciplines appear, for example, the
theory of communication. Applied aspects become promising. On the basis of what, by the way, are automatic translators created (take at least the same Google Translate)? Just on the study of statistics of languages, morphology, semantics (the science of meanings), stylistics, syntax.
Promising industries
It seems to many, “thanks” to the school curriculum, that there is nothing more boring than chipping spelling rules (“well, who needs them?”) Or memorizing the paradigm of conjugation of verbs or declension of nouns. Literary criticism also appears to be an extremely tedious discipline due to the punch-based approach. “What did the author want to say?”, “Do an analysis of the poem” ... As a result, many schoolchildren do not even know the name of the science that studies languages. And she, meanwhile, is engaged in increasingly promising and exciting aspects.

Thanks to advances in computer technology, it is possible to recognize text from an image. Surely many have already come across voice search. There are not only generators of names and titles, but also texts and even poems. And although computers still do not perceive any shades of meaning or intonation, they are constantly learning and improving. Therefore, linguistics in the modern world is becoming more and more popular and promising.
