To describe the summary of âTwo Captainsâ by Kaverin is an extremely thankless task. This novel should not be read in a brief retelling, but in the original, it was painfully well written and âtastyâ. And itâs good, on the one hand, that he was not included in the school curriculum at one time, otherwise the children would probably have received the same disgust for Katya and Sanaa that many of them feel for Natasha Rostova.
On the other hand,
modern youth often did not hear at all about such a work. But we will try to correct this shortcoming and try to give a general idea of ââthe novel, which was written by Benjamin Kaverin, âTwo Captainsâ. The heroes of the book, despite the time during which the novel was written, do not at all look like convinced fighters for communism and world peace. They are still alive today, unlike the many characters of the past, and it is quite possible that they will be loved by many generations of readers.
We will try to grasp the immense and as briefly as possible to present a summary of the "Two Captains" Kaverin. We will not dwell on the episodes, but try to walk along the âtopsâ, indicating only epoch-making events and the main plot twists. So, let's begin.
Veniamin Caverin "Two Captains"
The main characters of the work are Sanya Grigoryev and Katya Tatarinova. It is their love that passes through the entire work, so that a certain part of the readers of the book may be of interest as a love story. But only the love line Kaverin is not limited. In his novel, there is both struggle and betrayal, there is steadfastness and courage of some heroes, cowardice and baseness of others.
But again we digress from the topic. Our task is to write a brief summary of âTwo Captainsâ by Kaverin, and not talk about the eternal.
The novel begins with a description of Saniâs childhood. He lives with his mother and sister in a small provincial town. Sister, strange as it sounds today, is also called Sasha. It so happens that children have lost both parents and they are in danger of shelter. Not wanting to become a shelter boy, Sanka, together with her friend Petka Skovorodnikov, escapes from the house at night, not informing her neighbor Aunt Dasha, who considered herself responsible for the orphans. It was Aunt Dasha who read to Sanya in the evenings letters found in the bag of the drowned postman, not even knowing what role they would play in the fate of our hero.
The boys first wanted to get to Moscow, and then wave to the warm fairytale Tashkent, about which Petka told legends to a friend. It was then that the motto that Sanya followed his whole life was invented and put into action: "Fight and seek, find and not give up!"
The guys managed to get to Moscow, despite the difficulties of the journey through a country devastated by war and revolution, but in the capital itself they came under the raid. Petka managed to escape, and Sanya was sent to an orphanage.
It so happened that he became a member of the school directorâs family, at which his orphanage was maintained. The director's surname was Tatarinov, along with him lived the widow of his cousin with his mother Nina Kapitonovna and daughter Katya. Sanya was told that the husband of Marya Vasilievna was the captain of the ship "St. Mary", which disappeared several years ago in the polar ice. Captain Tatarinov hoped to find the northern sea route for his country and prove that you can go by ship from Arkhangelsk to Kamchatka directly. The director, Nikolai Antonovich, made himself the benefactor of the captain, and the latter's family felt sincere gratitude to him.

Sanya did not immediately recognize all this, as fragmentary childhood memories did not immediately connect in his head when, holding his breath, he listened to Aunt Dasha reading to him letters from the bag of the drowned postman and stories about the brave polar captain. To do this, he needed to understand that he loves Katya, come to her in Ensk, visit Aunt Dasha and sister and find old letters on the shelf. After reading them, he realized that fate mysteriously connected him with the Tatarinov family long before they met, as these were the letters of the captain addressed to Marya Vasilievna.
Sanya accuses Nikolai Antonovich of not helping Captain Tatarinov, but simply sending him to certain death, supplying the expedition with unsuitable products and equipment. But he canât prove it yet. And then he takes an oath to find the missing expedition.
But how can an orphanage boy who is just finishing school can do this? To find out, you need to read the book in its entirety, and not just run through the eyes of a brief summary of âTwo Captainsâ by Kaverin. Katya and Sani have a lot of trials. Sanya enters a flight school, wants to go to the North, but the war impedes, and instead of a polar pilot, he becomes a military man and goes to beat the Nazis. And Katya, after graduating from the geological faculty, moves to Leningrad, where she is caught by the blockade. Having recovered after a serious wound, Sanya begins to search for Katya, and she, not knowing anything about the fate of her beloved, is also looking for him. They walk through parallel streets in their search, not knowing that their meeting is postponed indefinitely. And only after the war Sana'a manages to keep his oath and find the missing expedition of his wifeâs father.
