Delicacy is a wonderful quality of personality that evokes only positive emotions in others. Such a person will never say something that could hurt or offend you. The word itself comes from the Latin Delicatus, which means “exquisite, delicate, delicate”. In other words, this feature implies empathy for other people, attentiveness, and, of course, appropriate behavior. People with this quality of personality are very restrained, polite and gentle in communication. A sensitive person can have many friends and acquaintances. And this is not surprising, because it is nice to talk with such a person.
Tact and delicacy
If you do not go into the deep meaning of personality traits, we can say that they are quite similar to each other. Delicacy, which may also be synonymous with subtlety, sensitivity, correctness, tact, is a deeper quality of personality. This is the inner world of man, a property of his spiritual construction. But tact is an external form of manifestation. Such a person adapts to the environment and people. Comparing these personality traits, we can conclude that delicacy is most often an innate feature. In some cases, a large role is played by the society in which the person grows and his upbringing.
Vices and Virtues
Despite the fact that delicacy is a positive feature, it can also be manifested for personal gain. This happens if a person really wants something. In this case, for example, delicate behavior at work can lead to higher wages, and this, in turn, will help a person fulfill his dream (for example, buy something). On the other hand, delicacy is a personality trait that is incompatible with manifestations of egoism. The very essence of this feature is that a person thinks about the interlocutor, tries to feel his emotions, tries not to hurt him in his own words or actions. But the egoist cares only about himself, his own thoughts, convenience and comfort.
He is little interested in the opinions and feelings of other people. The meaning of the word delicacy is clearly visible in a quote from the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel:
Delicacy consists in not doing and not saying what environmental conditions do not allow.
It should also be borne in mind that this positive personality trait is inherent only to strong people. As for the weak, then such a quality can manifest itself only under the influence of cowardice and timidity.
