Why is this whiskey so wonderful ? Catto was the first in Scotland to learn to blend two different varieties (cereal and malt). He began to be called Blended Whiskey, which means "mixture." It all started in the small town of Aberdeen, where James Catto opened a small store. He received raw materials from small producers and made his own product from it. The drink quickly became popular. People really liked the new whiskey. Catto did his best to get to know about it outside the hometown. Friends helped him organize the delivery of the drink to large vessels. Thus, very soon all of Scotland started talking about a new whiskey.
A little over ten years passed, and the whole of Europe learned about this whiskey. Catto was still alive when his product received its first gold medal in Paris. It was followed by the second such award received at the international exhibition in 1884. The product is recognized and loved by connoisseurs of many countries. After the death of James Catto, the matter passed into the hands of his son Robert. And when none of the relatives were left alive, work was continued by his closest friend and companion.
