For more than 80 years, Bezhitsky Steel Plant LLC has been supplying high-quality steel castings to the domestic railway engineering industry. The production of passenger, freight, specialized wagons, trains and electric trains is not without its products. Products are supplied under the Bezhitsky Steel brand.
Base
By decision of the government in 1931 in the town of Bezhitsa, Bryansk region, on a swampy wooded area, the construction of the steel shop of the Bryansk factory "Red Profintern" began. By the end of 1934, the open-hearth building, fire department, boiler room, auxiliary facilities were rebuilt. On September 28, 1935, the teams of Boris Laktyukhov and Pyotr Gavrilov completed the first experimental smelting. After 2 months, the metal was cooked in 3 open-hearth furnaces. Also, a unique steelmaking electric furnace was built at the Bezhitsky Steel Plant. A bust of I.V. was cast from the first portion Stalin and a memorial plaque.
In 1938, the branch was reorganized into an independent production - the Ordzhonikidzegrad Steel Plant. With the outbreak of hostilities, the government decided to urgently evacuate the main technological facilities and some specialists to the Urals - to Nizhny Tagil. At the new site, the production of T-34 series tanks and their modifications began.
Post-war development
A month after the liberation of Bezhitsa, the factory workers began restoring the dilapidated workshops and installing equipment. The first post-war steel was welded on December 25, 1945. In 1948, the talented leader A.F. came to the plant. Averin. Under his leadership, a year and a half later, the Bezhitsky Steel Plant reached the pre-war level of production.
In addition to the development of the technological part, the management paid considerable attention to the daily lives of employees. Housing was erected for them, objects of social and cultural life, cultural and entertainment events were held. In just 3 years, a new low-rise housing estate has grown on the outskirts of Bezhitsa.
In 1966, the director’s place was taken by the namesake of the previous leader E.K. Averin. Like its predecessor, he did a lot for the technical re-equipment of the Bezhitsky Steel Plant. Government awards for labor achievements marked many steelworkers. In the Soviet period, the company worked at the limit of capacity. With the beginning of perestroika and the breaking of economic ties, the volume of work decreased. In the 90s BSZ was corporatized.
New stage
In 2002, Bezhitsky Steel Plant PC became part of Transmashholding. This step made it possible to gain access to investments, enter new sales markets, and work in cooperation with specialized railway engineering enterprises.
In 2005, BSZ was headed by V.V. Voronin. Over the following years, the next program of technical re-equipment was implemented. Old equipment has been partially replaced by new automated computerized complexes.
An important achievement was the equipment of the site of small-scale castings in molds from cold-hardening mixtures. This was followed by a comprehensive reconstruction of the foundry No. 3, the newest lines of machining of large castings were launched. New infrastructure facilities have been built.
Today, the production structure includes workshops:
- casting;
- specialized;
- mechanical assembly;
- machining.
Also, the plant has 11 auxiliary sites and workshops. Product quality is monitored by employees of a certified factory laboratory. When designing new nodes, 3-D design technology is used. Kunkel-Wagner equipment is installed on the molding line. Automated systems allow you to work on the specified parameters. Thus, the influence of the so-called “human factor” is excluded.
Bezhitsky Steel Plant: products
For many years BSZ has remained the undisputed leader in the production of steel castings for the railway industry. The assortment of the enterprise includes about 300 items of steel casting of increased reliability for the production and repair of cars of all types.
The shops produce the final products:

Over 80 years of operation, the Bezhitsky Steel Plant produced 6.47 million tons of steel. The production of nadressor beams for Barber trolleys with an axial load of 25 tons was mastered and certified.
