Acting work, despite its external lightness, is sometimes a real test for artists. What celebrities did not have to do for different roles: cut their hair, dye their hair, grow beards, gain or lose weight ... When it comes to shooting in action films or historical films, actors often need to come in the appropriate form. One such example is an artist who has won a major role in the films “Thor”, “Thor-2: The Kingdom of Darkness” and “Thor: Ragnarok”. About what it was like - Chris Hemsworth's training, what he had to do to achieve the desired result, we will discuss below.
"Thor": a little about the film
In 2011, the first of a series of a film about the Torah was released, telling about the god of thunder, expelled from his world and got to our planet. The picture was shot based on the Marvel comics and became an integral part of the Marvel cinematic universe - all the films in this series are united by a common plot. A major casting was announced for the main role, stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt wanted to get it. Acting auditions were Charlie Hunnam (known for the role of King Arthur in the film "King Arthur's Swing"), Paul Levesky (the famous WWE wrestler), Yuel Kinnaman (starred in the films "Robocop", "Easy Money"). According to the results of the selection for the role, young Chris Hemsworth was approved , bypassing his brother Liam Hemsworth at the casting.
In 2013, admirers of the Marvel sagas poured into theaters to continue the film, which was called “Tor-2: The Kingdom of Darkness”. In the picture, in addition to Hemsworth, such Hollywood stars as Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and others starred.
Four years later, fans of the comic book series were stunned by the upcoming sequel, Thor: Ragnarok. The magnificent cast was joined by Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson. Cinematographic work has received mostly positive reviews from both viewers and critics.
Chris Hemsworth: diet and exercise
When the roles were approved, the actor who was supposed to play the Torah felt some difficulties in the process of preparing for the shooting. He was to play the image, which suggested the presence of an ideal athletic physique, for which it was necessary to play sports for a long time and hard. Chris Hemsworth's training involved tremendous effort on the part of the man and overcoming himself.
Being an athlete, the actor, however, was not in such a physical form that would provide him with an external resemblance to God. The fact is that as a main sports hobby, the artist was surfing. He developed agility and maneuverability at periodically attended boxing and muay-thai training. For a change, the future Thor also shuttled. Those types of training, which the actor at that time preferred, developed dexterity, speed, endurance. This is quite good for a person in principle, but not quite what was required for the new role. Chris was very dry, sinewy and completely different from the image that he had to play.

Chris Hemsworth's training involved building lean muscle mass. Outstanding specialists in this field were involved in developing the training program and nutrition plan. Steve Walsh and Duffy Giver set to work with the coaches' inherent enthusiasm, zeal and focus on results. By the way, Gaver helped bring celebrities such as Adam Sandler, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie into the necessary shape and had many years of experience in this matter.
Chris Hemsworth’s training allowed him to gain ten kilograms, and not just weight, but lean muscle mass. Such an amazing result was achieved thanks to the great zeal of the actor and the work of a team of professionals. Targeting the result, they did something that at first seemed almost impossible.
Chris Hemsworth: Workout Program
So what did the hero need? Beautiful body and skills that will effectively look in the frame. Since the film implied a large number of scenes of fights, the actor needed the ability to move correctly and sufficient strength to wave a heavy sword.
Boxing and Muay Thai came in handy for Chris. He continued to engage in these sports two to three times a week.
The main emphasis in the program was on building muscle mass, for which a training plan using weights was developed. Exercise machines, barbells, dumbbells and body weight - this is what Chris Hemsworth used in his classes. Thor’s training really brought its result: ten kilograms of lean muscle mass, excellent endurance and strength, as well as a great view of the actor in the frame. All this was achieved in about nine months of hard work.
Weight training was carried out four times a week, on each day, one or another muscle group alternated.

Diet
For nine months of sports loads, Chris Hemsworth has changed a lot. Training and nutrition yielded results.
The key moments for the period of great physical exertion for the actor are:
- An increase in the specific gravity of protein in the general diet: steaks, fish, eggs.

- Consuming large amounts of fiber and water to reduce the risks of large amounts of protein.
