Among its other achievements, intended for civilian and army use, the Kalashnikov concern presented at the international army forum this year a certain development called in the press a robot, a drone and an anthropomorphic complex. Since the model is intended to be controlled from within by a person, the latter definition is most likely to be most appropriate.
The name, so firmly attached to the invention, was officially rejected by its owners, but it is now hardly possible to get rid of it.
What can a robot Igor
While the mechanism is capable of only part of its functions. For the masses, only one skill has been demonstrated - it can stand to its full height. In fact, this is a 1: 1 scale layout.
How much of its potential are realized in practice at the moment? Information is not available to the general public. Specifications were not disclosed. It is known that the growth of the apparatus is about four meters, and the weight is approximately 4.5 tons.
While the robot Igor still does not even know how to move. However, already in 2020, a demonstration of a workable model was announced.
Future application
The Kalashnikov concern of Igor’s robot is positioned as a means of solving engineering and combat missions with priority of the former.
Functions can be very diverse and are determined by the structure of the machine: a cabin with a sight glass for the person controlling the movement of the device, a moving part that simulates two legs, a pair of manipulator arms. According to TASS, the latter will receive commands remotely.
The design caused public debate about its own stability and the ability to move around difficult terrain. Especially criticized the value of Igor in conditions of hostilities. There are doubts about the appropriateness of such a device for lifting goods. Showing the mechanism in action will be able to answer the questions of all those interested and doubting its performance.

The appearance of Igor’s robot has already generated a lot of comparisons, jokes, arguments and memes. It is difficult for connoisseurs of science fiction films that have already become classic to notice the resemblance to the machines of the Empire army from the Star Wars saga. Fans of futuristic action movies of the last century saw Igor the killer car from Robocop in Igor.
