Today we’ll talk about what many lack, but they will never admit it. After all, everyone knows that prudence is a useful quality of personality, but sometimes it disappears in a striking manner.
Value
The explanatory dictionary, which, unlike people, does not suffer from a lack of prudence, defines the object of our study as follows: "... prudence, deliberation in actions."
Our friend and associate in linguistic searches rarely spoils us with clear, chiseled formulations. He, of course, is not the Sphinx, but his messages also sometimes have to be deciphered. Reasonability is a synonym for prudence, so the matter is not clarified in this way. But the following wording saves the situation, because the reader probably understands what deliberation in actions means.
For example, a person chooses a kettle for a long time and tediously, looks at its technical characteristics. Still would! This is a serious matter, because this unit should serve the buyer faithfully for many years. A person acts as his mind tells him, that is, he delves into, considers and analyzes. This is generally correct. But to the Russian such scrupulousness seems almost manic. A German would not have seen anything wrong with such thoroughness.
But when it comes to choosing a university or life partner, the Russian does not have to rush either, because you can throw out a kettle and buy a new one, but it’s more difficult to do this with a specialty and people. Although present time convinces us that some do not see a special difference between people and things, that is, they do not draw borders. And here we can just say that they lack prudence, and this is sad.
Synonyms
After it became clear what kind of object this research object is for a bird, we fix the result and turn to synonyms. Their list will not be long. There he is:
- sanity;
- deliberation;
- judiciousness
- sobriety;
- wisdom.
All replacement words indicate that a prudent person is at odds with reality. He does not build castles in the air, does not allow himself to be carried away by phantoms. There are pros and cons to this. When common sense is the main helmsman for a man or woman, then it will be reliable, convenient with him or her. From such people it is clear what to expect. As spouses they are good, but as lovers they are boring. Prudence is a bad adviser when you want an explosion of emotions, romance and other exotic. But we will not destroy the image.
Only awareness creates sobriety and realistic look
There are no definitive answers, not only to the “damned” questions of human existence, but even when it comes to relations with people, you really cannot understand what to do. Sometimes crazy love leads to a strong marriage, but rarely. But if you take common sense into advisers and rely on the rationality of the choice, then, most likely, the experiment will succeed. Another thing is that in a marriage without love, living is rather dreary. In general, prudence, wisdom is adjacent to tediousness. Imagine calculating everything, worrying about everything, taking into account details, facts, shades of meaning. Yes, frankly, prudence is something that often drives people crazy, so they rush to the winds to at least somehow let off steam.
Nevertheless, thinking is more beneficial than living under the influence of the moment, by influx. Practice shows that those who do not reflect, do not analyze, eventually sail to a terrible place, and for want of a better place then they call this abode their life. In this sense, an instructive song by V.S. Vysotsky's "Two Fates." The classic is on our side, he also votes for the conscious existence of man.
Does the mind have a weakness?
Being a cold, rational and analyzing subject is also not the best share that a person can fall. A little madness will not hurt anyone (of course, here we are talking about a common sense of the word, not a psychiatric one). Sometimes you can surrender to the power of love, joy, pleasure, the main thing is not to get carried away. Of course, sanity has some drawbacks, but he clearly has more advantages. Anyone who thinks about the consequences of their actions, who has strategic thinking, is less likely to get into trouble, but it is worth remembering that this is not a panacea. Life is spontaneous, unpredictable and prone to entropy.
Therefore, it is important not only to correctly answer the question of what prudence means, but also not to get lost in life. As S. Kalugin sang: “It’s not difficult to find, but it’s ten times more difficult not to lose.”
